2008 lacrosse championships - good seats sold out

Just got in the mail an NCAA-authorized 2008 Men's Lacrosse Championships flier for the May 24-26 event at Gillette Stadium in Boston -- well, that's what they call it, Boston -- and it says the good seats are gone: club level, sold out; lower level sideline, sold out. Available are lower level end zone, mid level corners, and upper level. Can it really be sold out -- has this gotten as popular as basketball and hockey in their 20,000-seat arenas? -- or is the NCAA holding back blocks of tickets for whatever fine and upstanding purposes the NCAA has in mind? More info at www.lax2008.com.

Don't know if something strange is going on or not, Bill. Bought two tickets within days of the alleged first sale date (early May, IIRC) and got lower level side but at about the end line. Perhaps they're holding the center side seats for the four schools that will be competing. The difficulty in getting good tickets surprises me as much as the apparent sale of tickets for BU-Cornell next week.

Could the NCAA out of the goodness of its heart be holding 5,000-seat blocks for each of the final four teams' fans?

For those who think the NCAA never misses an opportunity to screw people, the NCAA might figure team fans will sit anywhere in the damn stadium while the ones who are overall fans of lax, they're to be honored and given good seats so they come back year after year. But would, say, 10,000 people like you, Al, have bought the best seats already?

There's always the possibility the NCAA has the best interests of the sport at heart and we're missing an obvious reason why all the good seats are gone.

Last year in Baltimore we got four tickets by calling the stadium the day before the Cornell-Duke game and they put us in the end zone, but in the first row. I BS'd with the order taker for a couple minutes (he wanted to be in sports management and this was his entree - good look) in hopes of better treatment but I'm not sure he could put us in Row 1 unless they were available.
