Not every football player is a BCS conference football player. Linebacker Tyler Juede from Shadow Mountain realizes this and spent his summer making the rounds to various Ivy League and Patriot League schools. He heads into his senior season with a favorite and now has to wait for his first offer.

The 6-0 210 pound Juede camped at Cornell and unofficially visited Penn, Dartmouth, Army and Lehigh. He says, “All of the campuses were amazing.” And pointed to the more historic feel of the campuses and cities as opposed to the more urban and new feel of hometown Phoenix.

He says the Cornell camp was “well run” and adds, “The coaches and staff were great. The camp was very informational. We had an academic day and I meet with advisors from the engineering and Arts and Science Colleges.”

Penn also had a similar academic informational day and he says, “I really like the staff. They were welcoming.”

But the campus at Dartmouth was very appealing. “The campus caught my eye a little more then the others,” he states.

One school has emerged as a clear leader and that is Army. Juede says that the Cadets have expressed interest in him playing either fullback or linebacker in which he says he has no preference. Army has not offered but they have told him they would like to him to send highlights after his first few games.

Juede carries a 3.8 GPA and scored a 1590 on the three-part SAT. All of the above mentioned schools have said that he would have to raise his score to get in and Army mentioned the possibility of their prep school.

Scout.com asked Juede about the military commitment that goes with playing at Army and he stated, “I am not too worried about it. The way I look at it is, there are over two hundred jobs in the military and quite a bit of them are non-combat.” Tyler’s father is in the Army reserves and is headed to Iraq soon. Juede adds very bravely, “My dad has given me the talks. I am well informed and aware. There would be nothing better then to serve my country and help protect it.”
