I came across this listing while perusing through Cornell's jobs directory. I know that there is sometimes a little bit of criticism on this board about the quality of Cornell's marketing/ticket sales. This might be eLynah's chance to change it...
Marketing and Ticket Sales Coordinator
This position will create, organize and implement ticket sales strategies and promotions. The incumbent would be expected to increase attendance and positive awareness for Cornell Football, Men's Basketball, Women’s Basketball and Women's Volleyball amongst students, faculty/staff and the regional public. Will also oversee the marketing initiatives of the newly created “BIG RED Sports Pass” which is aimed at Cornell University students.
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven experience in group ticket sales and promotions targeting businesses and organizations.
* Created and executed targeted marketing strategies to increase sales. Success in targeted sales campaigns geared towards college students highly desirable.
* Demonstrated success in developing diversified sales packages to boost overall sales and/or attendance while meeting the needs of a diverse group of clients (college students, employees, alumni, families, schools and corporate sponsors).
* Experience that illustrates the use of strong mutually beneficial relationships to achieve goals. Ability to grow, nurture and develop positive community relationships is critical.
* Consistently demonstrated highly effective and tailored writing and speaking styles to convey messages and ideas to diverse audiences to build understanding, commitment and overall relationship.
* Reputation with internal and external customers as extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled.
**This is a 1 year term appointment**
Qualifications
* Associates; technical/vocational school degree with 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination in sales and marketing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including editing, proofing and presentation skills.
* Excellent planning, coordinating and organizational skills required.
* Experience with ticket office operations and game promotions preferred.
* Ability to respond quickly and effectively to multiple priorities and situations with a high level of initiative is critical.
* High level of independence, creative problem solving. Requires the ability to persuade others to collaborate.
* Excellent computer skills with programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Filemaker, or similar database software, and calendar management programs.
No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
