for giving me another sport to care about.
I moved up here from Louisiana some (um, 13, cough, cough) years ago knowing nothing (and I mean pretty nearly nothing) about either hockey or lacrosse. I watched a little football, some basketball, a tad of baseball. But I never really got into them. I couldn't watch volleyball because I was still too close to my own competitive playing days.
So, I got hockey season tickets 12 years ago and got hooked, hooked, hooked. Started watching volleyball when my daughters got a little older (I wanted them to see girls being competitive and hockey isn't really toddler or small child friendly...because the stands are so packed). So, volleyball covered my fall, hockey my winter.
Then, after all the chatter about lacrosse on here, I thought, "Seems kind of like hockey on grass, might be fun to catch a game". So, I roped a friend of mine who played hockey for Hobart some 30 years ago into taking me to some games so I could learn the rules. Of course, my luck, Cornell has to have a stellar, exciting year and firmly set the hook in my lip. Now, I'm a lacrosse addict (well, not like some of you, but on my way).
So, now I'm a three sport junky. Of course, today's lacrosse game took another 3 years off my life (to go along with several years that hockey has removed over the last decade).
Wherever I go, whatever I do, I'll always have Cornell to thank for teaching me an appreciation of hockey and lacrosse and I'll always root for the Red.
Great season, amazing finale, thanks for introducing me to a "new" sport elynah-ites.
