The latest I hear is that the BU-Cornell game at MSG is on for Saturday, 11/24/07.

No word yet if the Big Red will have their own float for the Macy's Parade.

Thanksgiving in CT, what a wonderful thought. My brother and his wife will definitely welcome me home, especially if I cook the Thanksgiving dinner .

I got the info from somebody close to the BU program, and it really is not a rumor at this point. It is set to happen. And as far as I have been told, the two teams will also play a home-and-home series the following two seasons, but I'm not sure who will host the first year and who will host the second.

Didn't Mike Eaves say something along the lines of wanting to schedule a game with Cornell after they played in the NCAA's?

There's an interesting season preview with Jack Parker available as a podcast. If you don't want to listen to the whole preview, there's an interesting sequence where Parker talks about strength of schedule and mentions that next year they're playing Michigan, going to Alaska to play North Dakota, and will be playing Cornell in MSQ on Thanksgiving weekend. BU radio broadcaster, Bernie Corbett, chuckles "Big Red on Broadway." Not bad.

Guess I am heading back home for thanksgiving next year. Whats everyones bet on the ticket price for the first 5 rows, and what the total attendance will be?

No home to go back to anymore, but I'll do my best to be in NYC for that next year (still have relatives on LI for turkey).

I like the fact that this is probably the ONLY weekend (and Christmas) where I wont be able to get to the city for the game (from Texas). Unless the game is Sunday, which I might be able to make it

The Colgate games at Nassau Coliseum drew 3000-3500. But I suspect BU has a lot more alumni fans (no, I almost guarantee it). Plus MSG is easier to get to (says the Manhattan snob). So 5000 is probably at least a good bet.

If I'm not mistaken, you could sit almost whereever you pleased. The one I attended ('74- '75 season - I think) was fun but not well attended.

I'm so "long time" I saw us play in the old Garden ('67-'68) as well as the current MSG ('69-'70 and others). My hazy recollection of the attendance is that it was decent but certainly nothing great (a total guess - maybe greater in '67-68 and in the 3500-5000 range thereafter). I remember having no trouble finding an RPI friend in the crowd at the '69-'70 tournament. That was the tournament where I was escorted from the building in the third period of the second night for throwing a hat on the ice for Dick Bertrand's hat trick. Ironically the hat never even hit the ice, as Dick caught it in flight on his way back to the bench. I was able to walk over to the next exit/entrance and walk right back in the building and return to my seat.

Thanks Jeff and Marty. That's about what I thought. I didn't mention the Boston tournaments because I figured Boston has more interest in hockey and college hockey in general than NYC, so the numbers at the Garden might be expected to be higher than at MSG.

I'm surprised that an RPI fan wanted to be found. I know that I was doing both days.

At least some of the Boston Garden tourneys were sparcely attended, too. I don't remember that there was much of a crowd at the '73 NCAA finals, but my memory is clouded by the outcome for Cornell.

In an article in today's Rochester paper, RIT's coach mentions talking with Cornell about playing at BCA.

The article's about RIT trying to get big name programs to BCA. I wonder if Cornell could help them out? Michigan may not be interested in coming to Rochester to play RIT twice, but might they be interested in a Friday night game with RIT and a Saturday game on neutral ice with Cornell? Put RIT-Niagara on the undercard and you have a nice doubleheader for hockey fans in Rochester. That'd be a nice way for Cornell to improve their OOC schedule.

The 47th Infantry game was played 10-13-1917, in the midst of The Great War (a 6-0 CU loss). Either they were pumped up for battle, or we lost to make them feel good before they went off to fight. Yeah, that's it.

The Palmyra HS game was Cornell's first football win ever, on 10-20-1888 (26-0 CU win). The previous year, Cornell played the first 2 games in the program's history, losing to Union (24-10) and Lehigh (38-10).
