White-Out Planned for UVM Hockey Game Friday
Contact: Gordon Woodworth, Vermont Sports Information
BURLINGTON, Vermont - The University of Vermont will hold an old-fashioned Vermont White-Out at the men’s hockey game vs. Cornell on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
The first 2,500 fans to enter Gutterson will receive free white shakers, courtesy of the Friends of UVM Men’s Hockey. In addition, all fans are encouraged to wear white for the game.
The Cornell game is the first ECAC home game of the year for the Catamounts, who are 2-4-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the ECAC. The game begins at 7:00pm. Vermont hosts Colgate Saturday night (7:00pm).

Sounds like a sea of red would be a good idea.

"White shakers" sounds like a homer hanky type of thing to me. I'll be sure to wear red and deface my giveaway.

i could be wrong but i think that shakers are huge plastic noodles that you shake and/or bang against the seats, other people, etc to make noise. if i'm right - they are REALLY annoying!!!!!

Of course, even if I colored it red, it couldn't possibly be as cool as what the someone in the band did a few years ago with one of those big foam paws...

Well, it's the University of Vermont. So my guess is that shakers either have something to do with a smokeable herb or a bushy farm animal.

You know, like the foam fingers they sell, only shaped like a cat paw. Well, somebody decided to cut four "fingers" off of them. Give you one guess which finger they left...

Shaker + White Out causes me to think of those souvenir-type snow scenes in a plastic bubble filled with water. Shake them and you have a small blizzard inside the bubble.
Only problem with giving those out at a game is that they have the potential to become serious projectiles.
