Does anyone know if Dartmouth generally sells out their hockey games?

Did this trip last year and the Cornell section wasn't all that full...
Going again this year :-)

And what about at Vermont? Will there be a problem buying walk up tickets??

my guess is no to both. the amt of cornell people at both is quite small - or at least it was last year. should be not a problem to buy tix at the door.

How does it work at these arenas? Do you tell them you want a seat in the "away section" when you walk up? Or is it like Colgate or Brown where you just get a general admission ticket and look for those in red?

When UVM was good, they would sell out routinely, and people would line up every thursday for general admission tix. But attendance has dropped off post-2000. It would still be wise to order tickets from Cornell if possible.

There are others far more qualified than I to answer this, but UVM tickets are a bit tricky and risky. They generally (at least used to) sell out, so there are no single game tickets to buy in advance. However, their season ticket holders have to go pick up their tickets each Wednesday. Any season tickets not picked up are sold to the general public (in person only) starting Friday mornings. So you can't get a ticket until you are physically in Burlington. If there aren't any left, then that was a long drive... However, I was generally able to buy scalped tickets off of people even when UVM was good, and then later, decent. Surely there are more tickets available now - but like I said, it's a risk. If you can't get them from Cornell ahead of time or buy some in advance from a private individual over the internet, you'll have to just show up in Burlington and take your chances. Good luck!

Robb,
I bought 2 tickets to the UVM game 10 days ago from the UVM ticket office (via telephone). From what I understand, they do not offer reserved seating on an individual game basis, but you can purchase advance general admission tickets.

Wow - must not have sold out this season. Guess that's what a 3 win season does....

I'm trying to get to a few more ECAC away games this year. I already have my tickets for Harvard. But I'm curious as to if I should purchase tickets in advance for Colgate, RPI, Union, Princeton, and Yale. Do any of these arenas sell out in advance? I imagine RPI might, but the others I'm thinking not. Also, since I'll be visiting student friends at RPI and Princeton, should I get them to purchase the tickets (i.e., is there a student section, or should I stick with the Red in a visitors' section, if either of them exist at these arenas)? Any help would be, uh, helpful.

Princeton actually does sell out; the question is usually more along the lines of whether the ticket-holders actually show up. So there may be empty seats, but no tickets to be had. Try to buy in advance through Cornell.

Princeton sells standing room starting something like an hour or two before the game, so there is never problem getting in...and princeton only has like 7 rows, so standing room is really close to the ice.

As for Yale, the last two years my parents (we live 25 minutes North of New Haven), have just shown up and gotten tickets. Although I think both years it was in the now closed New Haven Coliseum with momre ample seating.

My first ever ECAC contest was Clarkson @ Yale - I went with a friend who's father was a Clarkson alum - final was like 8-1 Clarkson. Anyway, we just walked up and got standing room tickets. Those are the three samples I can give you.

I've never been turned away at Yale or Princeton, but I have had to buy standing room at both. Arrive early and you shouldn't have a problem getting in.

As for Colgate, you could show up 5 minutes before the game starts and easily get in. Which is probably about right....because why anyone would want to spend more time in Hamilton than they had to is beyond me....

Just watch out for the snow and the frat boys....

For anyone who's definitely planning to hit the games at UVM/Dartmouth, the CU ticket office still has tickets as of prior to the Princeton game, when I bought mine.

Yeah, and a price hike to $15. How can such a godawful team find the gall to raise prices?
