Pardon me for being out of the loop, but I just read that one of Hahvahd's three asst. coaches was a 1985 graduate of Cornell, a goalie on the team. Grrrr... you'd think Schafer would have picked him up first.

He played with Schafer if he graduated in 1985.

Why, Erica? Are you dissatisfied with the assistants we already have? Is the team an employment program for all hockey alums? Should they have priority over other qualified coaches?
I am glad that our current coach is a Cornellian, but only because it is sort of cool - I certainly don't think it should be considered a qualification for the job.

No No No, I don't care who our coaches are. However, I have no idea why a former Cornellian would want to coach such a subpar team as Harvard. Maybe he likes a challenge...

seems to have been a qualification...to some degree.

True, Rich - I can understand why it would be a preference to the department, and I am happy to have Cornellians who are qualified to coach a top-flight NCAA program. I just don't think that it should be a requirement.
Maybe Clarkson will soon be in the market for a Cornell alum . . .

Keep the gloves up. . .nothing has been decided. Although I know you're statement was made with a large amount of sarcasm, we shouldn't joke about Coach Morris and the situation he is currently in.

Look at our football coach...do you think he got hired because of his stellar coaching record at Hamilton?? Hell no...

According to the Harvard Hockey Website. volunteer assistant coach Bruce Irving was a graduate of Cornell in 1985. That year the varsity goalies were Doug Dadswell and Jim Edmonds, so Coach Irving was likely a JV if he was in the program at all. I sure don't remember him. Does anyone?

Pendergast is not an alum though. He was familiar with the program because we was an assistant here in the 80's.

Wait...if Irving is a volunteer, then he's probably not getting paid a salary, right? Man, he didn't even sell out, he's doing it for free!
