AFAIK, all combinations that result in either a 2-way or 3-way tie for first with Cornell result in a Cornell RS title and #1 seed. Here's hoping for the best.

"Clearly pros." Such as the pre-game remark that the key for Union is to "score early and score often." Seems Union, like Cornell, has a better record when it scores first.

But thank you, Time Warner, for such dazzling webcast technologies as instant replay and an onscreen scoreboard. Wonder is CSTV knows about them.

The "pros" have apologized for both of the early Union penalties. (OK, Moy did say that running into and upending Mckee in open ice wasn't smart.)

Sawada scores and it's ruled no goal, kicking. Replay shows he didn't kick it. The announcers do note than angling the skate counts as directing.

Well, I retract my praise of the announcers, to some extent. NThey're not bad, but praising the "penalty kill" during a 4-on-4 ain't exactly Sam Rosen and John Davidson .:-P

Re: Cornell 0, Union 0, late 1st
Posted by: billhoward (---.union01.nj.comcast.net)

And I retract my criticism. Jason Moy and Tonto, or whoever the sidekick is, know their stuff (Matt DuBrey, sorry) ... as you'd expect hockey announcers should. They're homers, but that's the case in the NHL hometown broadcasts too. Marissa or Melissa, the sideline announcer, her skill relative to the announcers is roughly equal to the skills of an NFL sideline color person relative to NFL announcers.

Scary thing. I didn't fix the stretching early on -- 4:3 image on a 16:9 TV -- and it's not good showing Jason Moy or Mike Schafer or anyone else with roundish facial characteristics.

Sorry, Greg.

Colgate tied RPI late in the second period on a ppg. Now 1-1 after two periods.

Wow. what a shift. solid pressure in union's zone for ~ 2 min but even with a union player "stickless", we couldn't bury one.

Pegs did a great job keeping the puck in at the point.
Cornell pp.

Hey, if all the current scores held (1-0, 1-1, 0-0), we'd still win the RS title. :-D

Tons of pressure, but nothing trickles in.

Awesome Cornell pressure at 10:00 of second period just before Cornell gets PP. Just like at RPI (actually better) where it looked like CU on a PP and it was even strength. But no goals. Just like at rpi.

Interesting contrast to the RPI-Cornell game yesterday.

Second period saves:

Dekanich 17, Lange 1

Thru two:

Dekanich 23, Lange 7

Just when I'm thinking that Union is really challenging our point men, Bitz makes an awful turnover leading to the shortie :-(

McKee was no where near that puck. Is it me, or has anyone else noticed that McKee can't stop the breakway?

He stopped one of his only ones this season earlier in the game.

Bitz should not be on the point on the PP, but there aren't many other options.

What is David's record against breakaways and penalty shots this year? I believe goalies have a slightly better than 50% save average on penalty shots. Don't know what it is for breakaways where the goalie probably has a slightly better average because the shooter doesn't know if someone's chasing him and may force the shot.

From the meaningless files...

Brown 4, Quinnipiac 1 (end of 2)

Guess they were just waiting for Senior Night to show off.
