Good line. And inspiring of a little research.

McCutcheon played 54 games his first two years with 0 goals. He now has 8. Are there comparable junior year jumps from 4-year players?, I hear you ask.

The leading double-0's are as follows:

Brian McMeekin: 0-0-2-1.
Dave Burke '92: 0-0-2-5.
Bill Cole '81 : 0-0-0-7, though he played just 2 games as a frosh.
Pat Heaphy '88: 0-0-1-15, but again, he played just sparingly until senior year (his points were 2-1-3-28!

Mike Iggulden '05: 1-0-2-10 is the prototype late bloomer.
Shane Palahicky: 1-0-7-7 deserves a mention.
Jake Karam: 2-6-10-16 had a much more steady rise, and did Sam Paolini '03: 1-8-15-13.
Brian Marrett '80: 5-1-10-14 also looks like a decent career progression.
Ross Lemon '90: 3-8-7-23 and Rob Levasseur '89: 2-6-8-26 had breakout senior years but were not invisible prior to them.

Trying to recall how many minutes / shifts / games McCutcheon played his first two years. Wasn't he on the cusp of not making the team or dressing as one of the last forwards at least freshman year?

Well he was the 13th forward last year. He still played a good amount because of injuries. When they had a full lineup in the playoffs and in the NCAA's, McCutcheon didn't dress. In fact, the last game he played last season was the last regular season game at Clarkson. One has to wonder what the case would have been with him had Shane Hynes stayed at Cornell. Hynes, Scott, Sawada, Carefoot would have definitely been the top four on the right side. Was also thinking McCutcheon would fall out of the lineup next year with two "A' prospects coming in on the right side (Gallagher, Milo). Now, there is no way he'll come out of the lineup and am wondering if he could end up being captain.

Dave Burke was a defenseman, also captain his senior year. He graduated with Marc Deschamps, a defenseman that didn't score all 4 years.

I wish I could remember the details, but a then-goalless Burke had a golden opportunity to shoot at an open net for his first goal. It was clearly going in, everyone in Lynah realized that it would be his first goal (I think he was a junior at the time) and someone else redirected it at the last minute. Among the things I don't remember are whether Burke got the assist or if the redirection not only stole Burke's goal, but also missed the open net.
