Anybody remember where we were ranked pre-season last year?

couldnt find it. i think cornell was in the top 15 high up but i dont know.

On 11/5/01 we were 16th in USCHO and 15 in USA Today. I don't have a record of anything before that.

The week before the 11/5/01 poll, Cornell was in the "others receiving votes" category of the USA Today poll with 10 votes, not sure about USCHO poll.

EDIT: According the latest article up on cornellbigred.com and confirming what we seem to believe, the team was not ranked in either pre-season poll last season.

Seems to me we were picked sixth in the ECAC in one of the preseason polls.

ok. it is cool that there is a new site but these guys must be on crack:

come on. I love Murray as much as the next guy/girl but I'd hardly label him the best skater in the ECAC. As I believe the end of last year's song went "IPOTY do dah, IPOTY do dah, He's so god damn slow!"

They also misspelled LeNeveu (LeNeveau) on one of their pages. Speaking of which... I hate to dig this up again, but for those who were in the ticket line when Stephen introduced the players, did you happen to notice he said "Le-ne-voo"?

After initially being perplexed at the comment about Doug Murray, I more charitably interpreted "best skater" to mean best non-goaltender, rather than most proficient power skater.

I don't think they meant "skater" as in a smooth strider, but "skater" as in hockey player.

Figure skater or not, it's great to see Doug supported as the best player in the conference.

Interesting that he's one of only two returning Hobey finalists.

Yeah, though for an ECAC defensemen to have a shot at it, we'd have to win about 30 games even before the vote.

most recent poll has us holding steady at 8 with a few changes around us. this is nice to see since we have yet to play - unlike a lot of other schools.

Pleasant surprise. Often, ECAC teams slip a slot or more each week idle.

Cornell jumped from #8 to #6 in the USA Today last week, and since then among the 5 teams above them: Maine, Minnesota and Denver have all lost while BU tied UVM. They might even move higher when the USA Today comes up later today.

Cornell Vs. Cornell, sadly, is probably more impressive than Cornell Vs. York.

Wel, the offense looked sluggish. . .

By December 1st (only 40 days), the voters will have 9 games (3 NC), 4 in the pre-season top 15 (OSU, Harvard, BU, BU)

By January 1st, they'll have 13 games (7 NC), 5 or 6 in the pre-season top 15 (above plus Maine and possibly OSU again).

FWIW, Hockey Digest's preseason article (adam Wodon) puts cornell at #6...the only ECAC team in the top 10. UNH (#2) and BC (#5) are the only other eastern teams ranked.

The article says, in part re: cornell..."if they can find a sniper, they can make the Frozen Four."

Poor word choice by Adam, to say the least. I assume he wrote it quite a while ago.

Very interesting to see the spread of first place votes. I don't recall ever seeing so many teams (8!) with first place votes. Brown has taken over as the second highest vote-getting ECAC team.
