Yeah, I know it's only indoor lacrosse, but rookie Sean Greenhalgh's ('05) debut for the Philadelphia Wings -- the National Lacrosse League franchise co-founded/owned by Cornell lax legend Mike French ('77) -- was just as stunning as his opening act for Cornell back in '02. His four goals and three assists led the Wings to a come-from-behind road win at Colorado. It was a tough setting, because they were retiring Gary Gait's number at the Pepsi Center. (Don't laugh, almost 16,000 showed up.)
Greenhalgh was the third overall pick in the draft -- a selection that was greeted with skepticism in some places.
He's returning to his roots. Greenhalgh played the indoor game growing up in Ontario. He was a star for the St. Catherine's Athletics in Jr. A lacrosse, winning a Minto Cup and bunch of awards, including the Joe Nieuwendyk Award (sic!) for outstanding OLA rookie.

Actually, the Wings regularly draw over 16,000. They play in the Wachovia center rather then the Spectrum, because it's the bigger venue. Good to see other cities drawing well.
And now that I know Greenhalgh is with them, I definitely need to get down to Philly for a game.
