I don't know if anyone has posted this, but "The Game" by Ken Dryden, the best hockey book every written is back in Print. John Wiley & Sons came out with a new 20th Anniversary Edition. I guess it came out in 2003, but the first time I saw it was last weekend at the Union Square Barnes and Noble. Just in time for the holidays. It also has a new chapter written by Dryden.

Bought it a couple of months ago and finally read it over Thanksgiving vacation. An excellent book. The extra chapter isn't quite as good, but that's understandable considering the time lapse and Dryden's very different frame of reference (long retired) when he wrote it.
It is interesting to compare what he originally wrote as a prescription for North American hockey success in the light of seeming Soviet ascendancy (last chapter of the original book) with what actually happened and his take on them in the new chapter.

I remember reading it while studying for finals in the stacks of the undergrad library. Kept me sane

ESPN.com released a list of suggested gifts for hockey fans, and first on the list is "The Game."
[q]Considered a bible by most hockey fans, Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden clearly defines what makes the sport great in this book. He also takes you into the player's head more than any other hockey book we've read. If you know someone who loves hockey or is just starting to get into it, this book is a must.[/q]
Also on the list is a book by Angela Ruggiero, who played for Hahvahd's women's team, and a bubble hockey table. I highly recommend the bubble hockey table.
