I just found out from Sue in the Hockey Office that the Quinnipiac game this Saturday, 12/3/05, will start at 6:00 P.M. in order to accomodate the NESN telecast of the Bruins game later that evening.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You probably didn't have a referral.

The " HOW MUCH TIME LEFT" idea started in section H by townies about three years ago. Last year the students seemed to pick up on it and made it come alive !

Dude, we were doing that at least as far back as 1997. (Can't remember before then, but I recall specific instances of this my senior year.)
Cheers,
Kyle

Going back to at least 1992, which was the first time I heard it my freshman year.
I sat in Section H for a couple of seasons this decade, and the family that did that every game had me and my friends laughing because at times they cared more about doing that than the actual game action. Also, they did it differently than I had ever heard it...very robotically "HOW MUCH TIME LEFT" instead of "Hey, Mr. Timekeeper...How much time is left?" at 1:05, which is not only more natural, but also grammatically correct.

Definitely has been used by students for ages, at least since 1992 in my experience. However, it hasn't been used as consistenly as a lot of other cheers/traditions - I think people often forget about it (I certainly do if the game action is intense near the one minute mark). So it might be very easy to miss the few students doing it at some games.

To offer some defense of the Section H family of which Rich spoke (though if anything he's downplaying how funny it was) I've heard the same four-word phrasing in other rinks. Maybe that vindicates them a bit...either they learned it from someone else who had it incorrect or others have made the same mistake on their own. I doubt there was any spontaneous generation on their part; one of the things I've learned over the years is that when someone says he or she started a cheer a few years ago he or she's probably off by about twenty years and at least one foolish fan.
