What's the deal with the Hockey Association these days? Is the CHA basically a social club (so it doesn't make sense for out-of-towners to join)? Or does it have a newsletter or other perks that those of us in the diaspora would enjoy? Is joining a good way to support the team? And how would one do so anyway? I can't find any info online or even in a game program. All info appreciated.

(I was a member of the Boosters Club once, decades ago when I was 14 and had crushes on all the players; the membership was a birthday present. I just loved the chance to see the players in their civvies at the Afterglows, though I never had the nerve to talk to them.)

Unfortunately, I can't dig up my CHA stuff at the moment but....

Here's the old CHA website:

And I suggest that you get in contact with Sue Detzer:

sld6@cornell.edu

She's the hockey administrative assistant and she will be able to help you get in touch with the CHA.

Heather Nichols, hln2, is the CHA contact. At least she used to be and her directory information makes it seem like she still is.

There is a newsletter, FACEOFF, which I would find useful except that I follow the team more closely online already. The big practical perk is in getting tickets. Being a CHA member makes you eligible for Section C tickets (although there is now a waiting list), and some fraction of Cornell's alotment for away games is set aside for CHA members. This was the only reason I managed to get Lynah East tickets the past two years despite waiting a week or two long to order them.

You also get to support the hockey program and get a cool pin every year. :-D
