[Why not use this for pregame comments and then switch to a game thread and then a postgame thread to make it easier to read the topics afterwards.]
Seeing all the penalties called in the Friday NCAA first round games has a lot of people wondering how that will impact Cornell. That and the ice surface raise questions.
- Cornell is big and physical.
- Cornell is disciplined. This part doesn't get considered a lot outside Ithaca.
- The 200x100 big sheet of ice could be problematic for Cornell if the defense is used to having its way in the relatively more crowded confines of a 200x85 NHL size rink.
- Ohio State is #2 in the nation with 25 penalty minutes per game. (OSU says a lot of those are matching minors. Hmm.)
- Cornell has a great power play with finesse. Seems the bigger surface only gives Cornell more room to maneuver.
- Cornell has a great penalty kill. You have to wonder if the bigger sheet will take away some of the advantage.
- Four serious lines, not three plus a breather line, could be an advantage on big ice. But OSU says it has same.
You could worry yourself to death thinking about the possibilities.
OSU fans are probably thinking about three straight NCAA losses, including the past two years, as if the sins of a previous team are wrested upon this year's team.
Should be fun to watch once we're all sure we've got the right channel tuned in.

1
Knapp 12-23-35
Pelley 22-19-41 (13 PP Goals)
Bittner 10-14-24
Totals 44-56-100
2
Fritsche 10-33-43
Maiani 11-22-33
Andersen 8-9-17
Totals 29-64-93
3
Schembri 4-19-23
Beaudoin 23-11-34 (14 PP goals)
Bernard 1-6-7 (only played half the year)
Totals 28-36-64
4
Hood 5-16-21
McIlvane 1-5-6
Spector 3-4-7
Totals 9-25-34
The first two lines look very well balanced while #3 has the one scorer, Beaudoin.
Their 4th line looks like it's a very low scoring threat. Spector is big (6'4" - 220, Sr), but the other two are average size (5'11" 190, 6'0" 207 - both frosh).
They have one D-man with some offensive numbers (Collins, #5, 9-17-26), the rest are all under 15 points on the season.
We'll also have to watch out for Beaudoin (#26) and Pelley (#19) on their PP.
