A guy on the uscho messageboard says Kotyra, Feola, and Dell are the refs in Albany. Those are the three best refs in the conference and in that order in my opinion (although an argument can be made for Hansen) so that is good news. Kotyra is hands down the best in the conference and I hope he refs the Cornell game on Friday and we can be pretty sure that he will ref the championship. I have a feeling special teams will be huge this weekend so officiating could be pretty important. Anyways, outstanding news that neither Murphy will be there.

While I mostly agree with your ranking of the refs, the notion that Kotyra, Feola, and Dell are the top three refs in the ECAC isn't saying much.

Hmm, I don't know about Dell... that guy might as well just be declared legally blind and deaf. I'm not a big fan of Feola either. I hope we get Kotyra.

After being at Gutterson for the entire UVM-Dartmouth series I'll say this about Dell. He's fair.
Translated that means he completely sucks but his errors even out. Everyone that I sat with agreed he was awful, missing right in the face calls and calling things that weren't penalties as well. Watch out for lots of boarding/charging calls when guys fall over near the boards for whatever reason.
Amother oddity to me was that he (or his crew) had areal quick whistle when the puck was held on the boards - he didn't force the teams to play it out. I thought the current rules directed the refs to make em play it unless it was hopelessly covered?
In one of the games a linesman called THREE penalties that Dell didnt see - I've never seen that in a single game before. His only saving grace was that his mistakes were equal on both sides.
And for what it's worth, the guy loooks really young. I wonder how much experience he has.
Maybe we'll miss him for the semi since he just did the VT series and they weren't too happy with him.

Kotyra is head and shoulders above the rest of the ECAC reffs. Feola isn't bad... Dell is OK at best.
I hope we get Kotyra, and I agree, if ECACHL has any sense they will put kotyra on the championship game

Gametracker has Kotyra for the Cornell-Vermonyt game and Dell for the Sucks-Toothpaste game. Did they live up to their reputations?

I thought they both officiated fairly. Dell let a lot go in the OTs but that is to be expected.

Give the refs some credit this weekend. They've had to do all these games on what is clearly, as indicated by the telecasts, radioactive ice.
