Doesn't really matter, but interesting topic to pass the time. Anybody else think they look illegal? I couldn't stop staring at them at Union as they seemingly go up to his chest. They're worse than J.S. Giguere's pads. Here's a picture of them: [clarksonathletics.com]

They're big, but if he was standing upright they wouldn't look like they went up to his chest like they do in that picture.

They might be a little big... but I bet being bigger they slow him down. He seems to have tried to turn himself into a butterfly goaltender this season -- goes down a lot faster than he used to. It was very clear over that losing streak that teams had read the scouting report of "goes down faster than a SLU girl" -- nearly every goal over that horrid stretch was top-shelf. He looked a lot better at Union -- stayed up longer, gave himself more of a chance at making saves.

Touche... although a few of my friends would beg to differ. They're here, but they're scared, so they hide. If I were them I might be scared, too -- campus full of guys who tend to flock to them with less than pure intentions...

You seriously ought to write Clarkson recruiting materials, man.

My sister went to SUNY Potsdam, and her sorority was half Clarkson students.

They're not using their chromosomes to their advantage. Instead, they should be using those flocks of guys to do their homework for them.

women? I don't know...... '86 - '90 were lean and mean years. I think there were 2 of them...the Potsdam state girl that they throw a Clarkson sweater on and put her on the brochure, and the big fat ugly one that screws up the curve in your thermo dynamics class....and all those poor sheep with that scared look on their faces.....

Will-
That's exactly what I did my senior year of high school, when my next door neighbor, a West Point cadet, would bring his classmates home every weekend. It was glorious.

Would a "huge rack ... of chromosones" joke be out of line here?

No. But you need to type 'chromosomes' correctly.

Two things:
Those look like 36+2" 585s (might be 580s, 585s are 590s with the 580 graphic but I can't tell without looking at the back of the pad). They're completely legal and since Koho actually undersizes half their crap, they probably play more like 35+2". Not only are those completely within NHL rules and regs, since the NCAA doesn't have a maximum length rule, only a 12" width rule, it doesn't make a lick of difference.
For the record, it's not uncommon to see 6'2", Quebec-Butterfly style goalies like Traylen wearing bigger pads than, say, McKee, who relies on an Active Hands style butterfly. At 6'1 I play in 36+1" Velocities for sake of low coverage.
