From USCHO
so this takes another team of the list that might persue Schafer right?
According to various published reports, Mike Eaves will be named the new coach at Wisconsin, perhaps as early as today. Eaves, 45, the Badgers' all-time leading scorer, is currently running the U.S. National Developmental Program and coaching the Under-18 team. Eaves would replace Jeff Sauer, who announced in January he would step down following this season after 20 years at the helm.

I'm a hopeful romantic, and I believe that Mike will stay on as the heart and soul of Cornell hockey in the same way that Tim Taylor, Red Berenson and Ron Mason have become synonymous with their programs. Mike's priorities are *exactly* the ideal for a Cornell coach -- (1) represent your school with honor, (2) treat your players fairly, (3) win! -- and he's lived up to all of them. I hope we are looking at a 20 year coach, and I hope the university is treating him accordingly.

Getting his position endowed was undoubtedly a huge step in that general direction.

I'm not sure, but I would guess that USA Hockey does not permit a non-citizen to be the head coach, or at least would prefer that to be the case.
