"PRINCETON, N.J. (CP) - Philadelphia Flyers head coach Ken Hitchcock is joining the coaching staff of Princeton's men's hockey team during the NHL lockout."

Pretty crazy. I wonder if any other nhl coaches/players will get involved with college hockey during the lockout?

It will help if Princeton could get in Bernie Parent and Bobby Clarke.

Oh man.

I can't wait for my hatred of the Flyers and my love of taunting to turn into a beautiful symphony of rage. ;-)

Umm. You do know he quit his job with the Leafs when he became a Member of Parliment, right?

Ummm... one would think that Nieuwendyk has some time on his hands, eh? Does anyone else remember the emergence of one Brad Chartrand the last time that Joe missed part of a season? Wait, was it mentioned somewhere else that Nieuwendyk was in town Homecoming weekend? I'm sure he was in Ithaca for the football.

If Joe spends some time with the team, I doubt they'll have any problems on faceoffs this year.

I heard a rumor that Nieuwendyk declined an offer to conduct the pepband at Red/White this year.

[q]So you're voting for Bednarik, eh? [/q]No, because the man's a loony. The libertarian party only nominates people that seem pretty far out there, IMO. Besides, with our current system it doesn't make sense to vote for a third party presidential candidate unless it seems likely that that candidate has a good chance of actually winning electoral votes. Well, I suppose you can make an argument for symbolic votes in a non-competitive state.

Nieuwendyk was sitting with Schafer in the press box. I'm pretty sure he's skating with the team on a regular basis.

[/q]

If the candidate has a shot at 5% of the national popular vote, it may be worth it, especially in a state that's not in play.

I actually heard similar reports today that he was getting his workouts in with the team.

I heard part of an interview with Hitchcock this AM on WIP (Philly's SportsRadio station). He said basically that he's going stir-crazy with the lockout and needed something to do. He added he was impressed with the players dedication to academics.

He's also going to do some work with the Trenton Titans (ECHL) and added that if the lockout doesn't end soon, he may show up and help coach some pee-wee team in the Deleware Valley :-P

Last two way player in the NFL, right? And I'm not talking Deion Sanders as an extra WR two-way player. We're talking center and middle LB two way player.

Only missed 3 games in 14 seasons. At 35, Bednarik played 135 of 138 plays in the 17-13 championship win over the Pack, made the game winning tackle and handed Lombardi his only title game loss as head coach. And the 3 plays he sat out? The 3 Eagles kickoffs.

If Concrete Charlie were running, I'd vote for him just to keep him from coming to my house and personally kicking my ass.... ;)

At least he won't try to trade them for a bunch of washed up 40 year olds like Tom Renney would...
