I Every fall, the 1972 Miami Dolphins -- the NFL's only undefeated team -- get together to celebrate the demise of the last unbeaten squad that season. In a similar vein, the 1971-72 Boston University Terriers can rejoice as Division I's last repeat champions: Maine saw to that Friday, beating Boston College 4-2 to end the defending NCAA champs' Hockey East and NCAA hopes. /I

Found this on the front page of USCHO, wouldn't it make more sense to equate the Miami Dolphins undefeated season to Cornell's undefeated season? I know it would be a little late in the season for that, but still, it's a really crappy analogy.

Well, yes in the obvious sense of undefeated. But the point is that there's often a team that makes it substantially into the NFL season without a loss, giving people hope for an undefeated season. So the Fish alums celebrate every year when the last team loses. It's been a long time since I remember a college hockey team going very deep into the season without a loss or tie. By mid to late November it's usually all over. So it wouldn't really be worth the notice for the 70 team.

Besides, the folks at USCHo were trying to come up with a headline indicating that the defending National Champs are done. The last team picked up a loss months ago...

I see that, it just seems like they could have made a better comparison. They seem to be reaching an awful lot with that one.
