Cornell pre-season rank 2004-2005

Cornell has some really big, really good players coming in, and we don't lose many players, nothing like we did last year. But how did Colgate do on recruiting? Harvard? BU? The Western schools? About all that's clear so far is Princeton is not going to be atop the ECAC pre-season poll.

So far USCHO is reminiscing about the end of the 2004 season (okay, it's only been over for a week) and not predicting 2004-2005 finishes. Assuming all the recruits matriculate and nobody loses a battle to academics (hey, if it can happen to us, it could happen to one of the players), where should Cornell be ranked in the ECAC and what about in the country? Second in the East behind Harvard? First? Does anyone think Colgate can have a magical season again?

It's hard to make the top ten nationally in the pre-season since half the spots seem set aside for the WCHA and then there's BC, Maine, UNH.

I can hardly wait for October.

A lot of people think Colgate will be at or near the top of the ECAC standings once again next year, but I have my doubts, mainly because their old coach is returning, and that guy only had one particularly great season in his previous span of eleven years there. I think Colgate will slip to the middle of the pack.

You said it, John.

It's a long time until fall. Enjoy your summer, and for those of us whose team in still alive, the NHL playoffs.

Joe is still alive, therefore my team is still alive.

If the Leafs win tonight, and I hope they do, I will be rooting for Joe to do well against the Flyers.

However, I will be rooting for his team to lose.
