And I just want to say that for all the doom and gloom around these parts (Mostly by the youngins), I think Cornell did pretty damn well by the end of it.

Yeah, you're right, "mostly," but not all of us were cynical and feeling hopeless. It was a tremendously fun regular season, as bumpy as it was. Here's to second place (for now)!

And here's hoping someone else will take out Colgate in the postseason, because I really really really really don't want to see them anymore this year.

To give myself a pat on the back

There were a handful of us who had voted in Age's poll during the home stretch that this year's team exceeded our expectations.

I disagree. The team I wanna see most in the post season (Championship Game) is Colgate. The beat a very beat up Cornell team. Cornell definitely wants to face these guys and get some revenge.

It is nice though, that with our #2 seed, we can delay meetings with #5 RPI and/or #1 Colgate, allowing for possible upsets along the way. After all, going into the playoffs, RPI is on fire after scoring 11 goals this weekend and allowing only 1. In fact, it's possible that, after their strong weekend, they'll sweep this week's ECAC awards: Goaltender of the Week - Marsters, 65 saves on 66 shots, Player of the Week - Kevin Croxton, 3-1--4 (though there are some players who might challenge for this award, including Moulson and Union defenseman Brent Booth), Rookie of the Week - Oren Eizenman, 2-3--5. I'm just speculating, of course ....

The no-upset path to the final is #7, #3, #1:

Yale, Brown, Colgate.

Against the latter two Cornell went 0-3-1 (as many losses as in the other 18 RS games).

It is possible to construct a scenario in which the path is:

Union, Brown, Colgate

Against which Cornell went 0-4-2 (13-2-1 against the rest of the league).

Personally, I think anybody in the ECAC can be had, and anybody except Princeton could get by Cornell. It's a tight, tight league this year -- no favorite. I wouldn't be shocked to see any one of the top 7 teams win it all.

Who was missing when we played each other in late January? Throw out the Sat. game at Starr - I know that was probably the lowest point for Cornell in terms of injuries. But who missed the Friday game for Cornell? I can't remember if Vesce played or not...pretty sure the Abbotts sat out though (at least one of them).

Cam Abbott and Charlie Cook.

Plus, Moulson was given a game misconduct early in the 2nd, thus missing the majority of the game, and Bitz was given a game misconduct 5 minutes or so into the third.
