The sheer lunacy of people picking Murray for DDOY on USCHO led me to go add up some +/-'s from collegehockeystats. They only had numbers for 22 games, but here are the ones I did:
Mark McRae: +10
Murray: +7
McMeekin: +4
Cook: +1
I think that says more about what Murray contributes offensively than defensively.
Also, shots faced per 60 minutes of hockey:
Undy/LeNeveu: 23.5
Walsh (Clk): 23.8
Danis (Brn): 29.0
But we know Cornell's goalies have nothing to do with that team defense...

There's no ODOY, so I stand pat.

I'd guess the ODOYs are usually the two defensemen named to the all-ECAC team.

For what it's worth, here's the +/- skinny on the team for the ECAC schedule only, based on the stats provided by collegehockeystats.com. Missing are the first Yale game, the first Princeton game and the last Union game.
Murray +15, -7, for a +8 total
Downs +12, -4, for a +8 total
McCrae +16, -7, for a +9 total
Bell +13, -5, for a +8 total
McMeekin +18,-10, for a +8 total
Cook +9, -13, for a -4 total
It doesn't appear to clear the picture much when comparing the defensive corps, since 5 of the 6 regular defenseman are within one point of each other. Maybe we should be content to know that we have the best defensive team in the league and that includes two goalies, an excellent set of defensive forwards, and a defensive game plan designed by a good coach and executed by a disciplined team.

Murray and McCrae are both on the first pp unit. Does this have an impact on their +/-?

special teams don't count toward +/-

Special teams do count, in a limited sense:
A skater gets a +1 if he is on the ice when his team scores an even-strength or shorthanded goal. He gets a -1 if he is on the ice when his team allows an even-strength or shorthanded goal. This does not apply to goalies.

Someone, Please clarify what +/- means. Every time a goal is scored by the other team, the defensive players on the ice get a minus? And every time their team scores they get a +? Thanks

You get a plus if you are on the ice when your team scores. You get a minus if you are on the ice when your team is scored upon. Power play goals don't count.
That's it.
That's it.

Oh. I meant that too when I said power play goals don't count (for either team), but I guess I could have been clearer.
