I can't connect via Dartmouth's feed, and there's no game thread and it's 7:30pm EST. Is the game on?

Greg, if exciting means we play the whole period in our defensive zone (like the first period today), I'd rather have boring.
Kudos to Greg Hornby for taking Hugh Jessiman to the box with coincidental minors.

Mitch Carefoot's goal came off a rebound of Dan Glover's left point shot. Dan Yacey kicked the rebound to the left faceoff circle.

I'd just like to say that the Dartmouth announcers (I assume they're students) are doing a pretty good job and, aside from calling Dartmouth "we," are not calling the game as homers at all...they've praised the Cornell crowd several times and tried to encourage listeners in Hanover to be more like the Faithful. They even got excited when Carefoot scored. Although, the most telling piece of evidence that they're decent is that there hasn't been a negative post about them yet...

Garrett Overlock scored off a faceoff in the Cornell zone. DC got traffic in front, and I don't think McKee saw the puck well.

Cook and Wallace on the ice for both goals. Can't blame frosh D.
Tough to win averaging one goal per game (last five).

During stop in play Glass came over grabbed McKee's water bottle and took a swig. McKee skated over to him with his arms out as if to say WTF are you doing. McKee then chatted with Dell probably about this. McKee then hurled his water bottle to the bench.
I can see that bugging some goalies others not at all. A player with some cohones could make that their move to try and get the goalie's mind wandering. It was a funny exchange.

My thoughts (rants) on the game:
- I think we all already know this, but the reason we lost this game is that we forgot that the game isn't two periods long. Cornell and Dartmouth kept things about even (except for the first Cornell PP, with the 5-on-3--what the hell happened there?) for two periods but Cornell really slowed down in the third. Frankly, I'm surprised we were able to score at all. I just wish I could have seen it happen for myself. Still, kudos to Carefoot and Glover on their first home goal and assist respectively of their careers.
- The first Dartmouth goal was scored on an excellent screen. The second goal was a good play too. The defense slowed down with the rest of the team and Dartmouth owned them.
- McKee, despite giving up two goals, played a hell of a game tonight. It was the defense that failed him tonight. Earlier, he made a number of great saves.
- Yacey really is a good goalie, I hate to say. I was impressed with him the last time I saw him play, at last year's ECAC Consolation game in Albany, and I was impressed with him tonight. The good news, though, is that at least at one point, he was listening to the crowd, by trying to throw them off of the remote control goalie cheer.
- Whoever came up with the phone number thing...brilliant!
- My friends really need to stop making 'predictions' in the middle of games--it just jinxes the team. One of my friends wanted to do "It's 9:00, do you know where your defense is?" Just after suggesting it, Dartmouth tied it up. Then, another friend tells me that after this game, both Dartmouth and Cornell would up their tie count to 7, and just then Dartmouth scores the GWG. Argh. That's why I keep my mouth shut about that stuff during the game.

HOTELCALI'S THOUGHTS:
*Personally, I don't think our minds were committed to the game entirely. Stupid mistakes would happen, like missed passes. We need to be much more focused.... and energetic, even.
*Iggulden was on fire!! I suppose he really wanted to make himself useful.. and he did.
*We're not clicking. What's our game plan?
*We played okay in the beginning of the came, and got a little tired throughout the second period and the third.. until we scored and got a beautiful burst of energy.. and lost control, and lost the game.
*What the hell was with the 5-on-3 we had with not as much as a shot on goal? Pretty pathetic..........
PS: McKee is playing great!! He just keeps getting better every game. I fully believe that none of those goals was his fault. If the goalies gotta make a save then 5 people arent doing their jobs...

Absolutely. He's been playing great lately, and his penalty killing is top-notch. Maybe the Everblades gave him a boost of confidence or something because he's been one of the most consistent and impressive players in the last 4 or 5 games.

I'm surprised Glass didn't get an unsportsmanlike conduct or at least a misconduct for that.

I see that stunt happen every once in awhile, seems like it happened at UNO games maybe once a season when I was still livin in Omaha. Usually pisses the goalie off and then some, and makes the crowd roll on the floor with laughter.
And honestly, I'm not sure you can call a penalty on it, even a misconduct (I've never seen one called in previous instances). Is it actually in the rules that the water bottle is for consumption by the goalie only?

Totally different when a ref grabs your water bottle to fix the ice and then takes a bit for himself.
Wasn't there & didn't get to watch, but that's usually to get the goalie off his game ... sounds like it worked.
And they are never going to give a misconduct for something like that, not at this level.
btw ... not surprised he threw it the bench after that though, goalies = freaky weird folks
