Where would we be with a win @ dartmouth and a win vs. slu(t)(bitches) ?

During the 2/15 game I stated that if we were to win out, we would be #5 or better on PWR.

I remember everyone telling me I was a nut job--especially keith.

But even with a L & T, we are now tied for 5th.

Nut job? Nut job like a FOX! nut

There's no way to say for sure without some massive calculations, though if someone has nothing better to do for the next two days, feel free ;-) .

Why so difficult? Well, it would effect our Last 16, it would effect our RPI and the RPI of those two other schools, and the RPI of every school who has played any of us and the RPI of any school who has played any of the schools that have played any of us. You'd have to change a bunch of common opponent numbers (who knows how many). It would change our record vs. TUCs.

There's no easy way to look at it really, since we already beat Dartmouth in our head-to-head comparison despite the two losses.

Looking at the comparisons we loose, or at least don't win, (BU, Maine, Mich, Mich St., UNH), I don't see any which would likely change if we were to have won those two. But again, there are so many factors, you can't do a PWR without a computer (odd to think that the win last night propelled us 3 or 4 places, but two other wins might have done nothing).

Update: As of now, we've 7th (loosing a three way tie for 5th, by USCHO methods) after the dust cleared.

Actually, this is just the sort of question that the self-service interface to You Are The Committee was made for. Go to [slack.net] then scroll back until you find the games between Cr and Da and Cr and SL, and change the results so thet Cr wins, then click the form submit button, and the script will re-calculated the PWR.

I dont know if I did it right... but it has us tied for FIRST?

Actually, it has Cornell tied for first by virtue of losing the comparison to BU, but for seeding purposes Cornell would win the comparison with UNH, which would make the Big Red the likely #1 seed in the NCAAs.

Yikes! Who would've guessed that those two games could be so big?

I suspect that this is all because of the bunching at the top of the PWR. If you look at the current Pairwise, there are a large number of teams that are tied in terms of the number of comparisons won, and a lot of those teams are involved in very close comparison wins with the other top teams in the NCAA. I suspect that the Pairwise won't settle out at all until nearly the last weekend of the conference tourneys, and even then one loss could have a huge impact.

Yeah, that's what I get, too. We'd win comparisons with everyone but BU. Our 14-2 last 16 and 9-3 vs TUC would carry the day. (BU would only win the comparison with us on the strength of common opponents.)
