Harvard idiots let the buzzer go off during the national anthem.

I'm currently trying to connect to Harvard's radio link, but it seems over-congested. In the meantime, score updates from anyone listening would be great!

hey, i just tried getting the audio feed from harvard (clicked on the wma regular feed button) and got an announcement saying the station is "unavailable at this time. please try again later"

anyone else having more success?

Yeah I clicked on the "sports feed" on the wma thing and it's working fine.

Cornell kills off the PP, but the faceoff is in the Cornell zone still.

the wma button under "Low Bandwidth and Internet-Only Sports" gave the same error. Is there a "Sports Feed" button I can't find, or is their system perhaps full?

It's possible that they have a limited number of connections. I'll keep posting updates.

Harvard scoreboard lost power, so the game is currently delayed.

I got the sports feed by searching for WHRB at www.live365.com. The search came up with "WHRB-FM" and "WHRB Sports Internet" - the latter got me the feed just fine. Good luck - sounds like a fun game

This is unbelievable, considering how close the game at Lynah was. Enjoy the game.

Well remember that last year at Bright, we jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and Harvard was very close to coming all the way back, with the final score ending up being 4-3.

This is eerily similar to what happened last year. A 4-2 Cornell lead going into the third. Harvard scored to cut the lead to 4-3 and we somehow held on. Let's hope the same thing happens!

We held on.

Great game, at least for the 50 min or so that I heard. My audio feed dropped right after Moulson's 3rd goal making it 5-3, and didn't come back on until the post-game. and by the time i got the harvard feed working, the game was over. How much pressure did hahvahd have in the last 8 minutes or so?

This is the 2nd time that I've experienced the cornell feed being dropped in mid-game (it happenend during the 2nd period of the brown game). the last time it happend ocsn blamed it on a faulty coupler. Is this still the cause and when will it be fixed? and is anyone else experiencing this problem .

Glad the Red was able to fend off hahvahd. Hope they can do the same tomorrow at brown.

Okay, scoring on the Cornell goals:

And McKee had 24 saves on 27 shots.

Incidentally, both of Hynes' goals were scored with his back facing the net, the first one being a deflection off a Moulson slapshot, and the second being a beautiful backhanded shot through the left side of the net. Additionally, I have to say it was quite a crowd in DC. The room was incredibly loud by the time the fifth goal was scored and it was cold enough that we thought we were actually in a rink. There was a nice shot of Hovorka screaming at someone in the third period, and many of Chris Parkin seemingly whenever they panned the pep band.

Harvard had some good scoring chances in the last 10 minutes, but their pressure wasn't overwhelming as Cornell had a couple good opportunities for their 6th goal. I didn't have audio at the Fox Sports Grill. How loud was the faithful in spite of ticket-gate?

My thoughts on game:

YES McKee's getting better,
YES our team is greatly improving
and this was a GREAT win!!!!

Some thoughts from a CSTV viewer:
Unsung hero: Ryan Vesce - on ice for all five goals (I think) and just has a way of settling things down on the power play and playing with tremendous intensity at the same time. Never seemed to lose a face-off.

Moulson was awesome - by far the best he's looked (in about the dozen times I've seen him play live or on TV), although he's always been solid.

Also unsung, the fourth line, which just doesn't seem to make mistakes. Carefoot has been great on the PK and McCutcheon pretty damn good also.

Charlie Cook had a heckuva game.

The traveling Faithful made it a lot of fun to watch.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and Dave Starman (color) were excellent. Albert knew all the players as if he'd been doing Cornell-Harvard play-by-play all his life. Albert seemed to enjoy the Cornell fans, reporting that before the game the Faithful were cheering at Harvard "You have no fans."

Some thoughts on the game:

- It's nice to see Cornell be able to get more than a few goals in a game! This is a team that can score!
- Cornell needs to be careful to maintain the momentum and intensity at all points in the game. Cornell seemed to be a little off in the second period after totally dominating the first.
- The game had a nice fast pace, as very few penalties were called. Tv timeouts were more common than penalties.
- Moulson is absolutely amazing. He is going to do very well in his future if he keeps it up.
- A good game for McKee. Not his best ever, but he gave Cornell a solid chance to win and never gave the lead up.
- Does anyone understand what the deal was with Harvard's third goal? It was disallowed by the ref, but after a brief consultation, it was awarded. Not a super huge deal, but I'd like to know what was questionable about the goal.
- No, the game was not completely Cornell dominated in terms of attendance, but it was in terms of intensity of the fans. Harvard's band actually put forth more of an effort than many other ones I've seen, but Cornell's was clearly superior. I think the extremely cold weather may have deterred Harvard fans from going, but I don't think it affected the Cornell fans at all.

- I think the team is well prepared for today's game against Brown. We've already seen a few examples this season of how Brown is vulnerable despite having their highly touted "goalie". Limiting shots on our own net, and getting some quality chances will be the keys to doing well in the game. I feel pretty good about how we'll do today provided we play three strong periods of hockey.

I think the Harvard annoucners mentioned something about a scrum/fight behind the net during the 3rd Harvard goal that might have been the reason for the discussion. The goal was going to stand, it was just whether they were going to give out a penalty. Not sure of this, so if anyone else knows, feel free to chime in.

From the Cornell/Harvard recap that is up on USCHO (and very well-written, I might add):

"Walsh's shot rang the inside post, and popped back out so quickly that Kotyra thought it hadn't gone in and signaled a washout — not a goal — as the Crimson celebrated and Big Red stood by.

But after conferring with his linesmen, Kotyra reversed his call and the goal stood. (CSTV replays were not used in the review, but replays showed the puck did, in fact, go in.)"

I think it is fair to say that McKee tried to cover the puck, and it is clear that there was a whistle (so there was no goal), but that was a really quick whistle. McKee never had control of the puck.

The play reminded me of the Andison no-goal in the 1990 ECAC semis against RPI.

The fourth line may have put forth the most important shift of the night. Just after Harvard was buzzing McKee incessantly for the tying goal at 4-3, these kids came out and simply jumped all over Harvard, controlling the puck behind and in front of the Harvard net for more than 30 seconds and just missing getting the clinching goal. Having shifted the momentum back to us, they yielded on-the-fly to the Vesce line who controlled the puck in the Harvard end for nearly 50 seconds until Moulson shook loose in front, took a feed from behind the net, and potted the clincher.

The August follow-up to this thread would have been modestly more fun to read had there been a new thread started that didn't headline the final score. You recall the blonde joke about her losing bar bets on the outcome of instant replays. ("Incredible. I lost the same bet on the 5 o'clock news." Same here. Some of us are forgetful enough that we don't recall who won or, more likely, that Cornell got the win, but we're not quite sure what the score was.

Now to find a TV free for taping the hockey game since the rest of our clan is all going to be curled up in front of the Olympics, watching the up close and personal stories about Olympians who've overcome personal tragedy in their lives en route to the Olympics. Just once I'd like to see a profile about some wealthy WASP with blonde hair and straight teeth whose only personal tragedy was not getting into the right eating club at Princeton but who still managed overcome that adversity to make the fours-with-cox crew.

That's why God allowed TiVo to be invented - so we can fast forward through the drivel and see the 100 meter dash, all 10 seconds of it. Or it lets my wife fast forward through the race and get back to the personal-tragedy-overcome stuff.

The one personal adversity overcome part I like is that the Olympic village has a first class medical / dental center, and for athletes from emerging countries, it's a great chance to get your teeth fixed up right. Even our poor athletes who're reduced to working in Home Depot are a lot better off than many others.

Just happened to catch the last 10 minutes of this game earlier on tv...is there any indication as to which games might be on CSTV this season, now that I finally live somewhere that the local cable carries it?

Just talking out of my ass, but I don't think they release the ECAC TV schedule until late Fall.
