and a painful one at that
Hey, is anyone else surprised that USCHO thinks we'll sweep the weekend? Not that I don't have faith in our guys, but RPI and Union are fighting for playoff positioning and should be playing with a greater sense of urgency (or is that just another of those bogus media buzzwords?). CU is playing to increase PWR, no that's something that gets me real fired up to beat down the other team.
Then again: Cornell is just better!

I don't know whether the pressure being on or off will affect these guys. I don't think they'll come out flat, but I also don't think they'll come out flying either (see also: Estero). It might be for the best for them to just have a couple matter-of-fact games. Stay physically sharp without too many physical and emotional highs or lows, and get ready for the Quints.
The iron columnist candidate picked us to sweep with shut outs. I don't think so, especially against Cavosie and Murley.

I think the Red should come out ready to play, because last weekend they sure didn't look it. They can take that as their relaxation weekend and use this one as a tune up to make sure everything is perfect. I don't want to get down on the Red, but I'm ready and pumped for the plaoffs and I want them to be too. And I would love to see some dominating games!! (Just for the record I'm rooting for Princeton to come back to town....)

Here's some bad news posted on USCHO by Jayson Moy:
"Underhill not dressed for the game, only goalie out there is LeNeveu, Underhill went down hard in the warmup."

As of 11pm, there is one fewer TUC team and Cornell is down to #8.
TUC is the college hockey equivalent of figure skating's ordinals. TUC sucks!
Oops. 11:10pm and we pass St. Cloud to retake #7. Must be the Yann Danis factor.
Think I'll turn in while we're #7. The great Alaska shoot-out underway now might change everything.

As I posted in another thread there were tapes on the local television news. One had both waved off goals and both looked like goals to me. The other had the second and it looked good from their tape, too.

I can't edit what I wrote previously so I will answer once again. I have changed my mind on the first waved off goal. The official reason given by the announcer at the rink for the wave off was that the whistle blew before the goal was made.
In looking at the tape for the nth time I noticed that RIPs captain Steve Munn (25) was clearly in the crease well before the puck. He blocked Paul Varteressian from the net, but as this was a split second event it is hard to know if Fulton saw what I can see in slow motion.
The second wave off looks like a goal but the tape does not clearly show the puck. I am experimenting with emailing the file to myself over Road Runner. The zipped avi that I made is about 100 megs but the less clear mpg file is 26 megs.
If anyone on the board wants the file emailed to them they can request it here. Please specify which file you would like. (I can't guarantee that I will be able to send these large files.)

I do have to admit being braindead for, oh, the first half of the opening period last night with Underhill playing and not Leneveu (thanks, Al ). My apologies...but Krystof's goal was indeed his 11th of the season as I've referenced what I consider to be 3 fairly offical sources: The Cornell media notes, last week's game program which had him at 9 before his SLU score, and the stats from collegehockeystats.com.
I'll try to be little more on the ball tonight as I call the Union tilt form my penthouse broadcast position (aka the janitor's closet in the corner behind the seats at Achillies Rink ).

Well, if you can send the big file (to am33@cornell), I can probably compress it to a useful size. I have video of both, but the end-on view isn't terribly conclusive.
