QuickTime audio fix for Windows

Many of the Faithful have had trouble with the audio portion of the QuickTime movies that are so wonderfully provided on ELynah. During the Clarkson game on Saturday I finally fixed my audio. The fix is of value even at this late date as it enables good audio quality when watching the archives and of course can be used for the two remaining home games.
When QuickTime 5.0.2 installs on Windows machines it seems to use an audio format that is not compatible with our PCs. The audio is choppy and almost unlistenable. To fix this you must configure QuickTime before launching any ELynah movies.
Use the Start button to go to Programs-QuickTime-QuickTime Player to start the player. Once it is started use the "Edit" drop down menu and then choose "Preferences" and "QuickTime Preferences". "About QuickTime" will be seen near the top of the Window which pops up. Use the arrow at the right of "About QuickTime" to choose "Sound Out". Then change the sound from "Direct Sound" to one of the "waveOut" choices.
Finally, sit back and smile.

The next time you launch an ELynah production your audio will be fine. Check out the Clarkson fight clip for verification of your audio choice.

Note that DirectSound is part of DirectX and a Microsoft product. If you're having problems with it, it's not Apple's fault
That having been said, the specific problem described is likely just an issue with your sound card/driver combination. I haven't seen that problem exhibited on my PC or any I've tested on, but it's still good to know if someone else does have the same trouble. Thanks.

I have the opposite problem. The sound comes in just fine, but there is no picture.

This again? QuickTime 5.0.2, not 5.0.1, not 5.0, not 4.x. The correct video codec is not in any of the other versions. go to www.apple.com/quicktime/download and reinstall if you have to.
