Schafer very forthcoming in the pre-game... he says Marr is "a long, long way" from being ready to play, health-wise. He also came down the flu.

Louis would of course play if McKee couldn't, but Schafer said that Louis doesn't have the skills yet.

Gleed out for a few weeks for a jaw injury from the Harvard game.

Game not quite underway... anthems soon.

Adam, hope everything is okay with your family.

Sure seems like Marr has taken a drastic step back in his progress. He was dressing and seemed to be pretty close earlier in the month. Now, he is clearly far away from returning.

Not that it matters much, but Mike Stachurski quit the team a couple weeks ago. Saw him practice with the team earlier in the year and he was FAR behind any of the other defensemen, including Pajerski. Would never have played.

Sounds like a good game so far. The audio feed from the cable is very good.

It's about time we start getting some good luck. We've certainly hit enough crossbars and posts recently, it's nice to see another team get frustrated by them.

yup, definitive edge for Cornell...Adam W and co were saying that the ND goalie didn't have to make spectacular saves but that he was under constant pressure and maintained good position through out the period...Notre Dame started out fast but the ice tilted in Cornells favor once we started getting power plays. Moulson got the goal from Knoepfli and Cook at 8:35

team looks great here on hdtv. strong period - after scoring on the pp, the last two pps have been harder to set up it seems as UND is being more aggressive. a few posts that period for UND and they have had their chances but david has made some nice saves. back to the game :)

Agreed on BC. My preseason pick to win it all. Sure seems like a two horse race between UND and BC. Then there are 10-15 teams that are pretty even but clearly a notch below UND and BC. That being said, based on what we have seen in the NCAAs in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if the National Champion was somebody OTHER than UND or BC.

US and Canada definitely the top two teams at the WJC this year, though Russia is not that far behind. If Zherdev was still with Russia (left for the Blue Jackets) then it would be a different story.

BC is without one of their top liners in Pat Eaves. Still, Voce and Ben Eaves along with Shannon, Gionta, Boyle, Pineault and this team has some serious fire power. Still, the team has underachieved from the point of view of some of their close fans who argue that their results do not quite tell the whole story.
Should also be noted that Notre Dame beat BC 1-0 earlier in this year mostly attributed to a stand on head performance from UND's freshman goalie who made like 50 saves that game.

Cornell is wearing the whites.

Just got back from watching the first period.

Everything here sounds about right....Notre Dame looked good and fast in the early going....a lot of up and down play early...neither team really having great control of the puck for too long.

As the CU powerplays started kicking in, we began to take control, working along the boards, etc...more classic Cornell hockey. The 2nd PP was very sloppy; never really had control of the puck.

Overall, a good period considering a 3 week layoff. Unfortunately, I'm headed out and won't watch the rest.

Let's Go Red!

[q]Changed scoring on goal:

1 8:30 Cor pp Knoepfli 2 (Moulson 12, Cook 8)

I thought it seemed weird that everyone was giving it to Moulson. It was a clear rebound wristed back in by Knoepfli.

wow -- granted, some of it was the ND player not getting it up high enough, but McKee just made an amazing save off of a rebound, sprawling to right to cover the open side of the net.

Is it possible that Marr will apply for a medical red-shirt, giving him an extra year of eligibility next year?

Sat Jan 3, Bowl with the Red 5-7pm at Helen Newman...if you're in Ithaca stop by!

McKee likes the warm weather...used to the type of ice in Florida since its similar to that in Texas

Adam: Did you know you would come to Cornell eventually?
McKee: It was certain but he deferred and was going to play with Naimo (sp is wrong)...the short notice didn't throw off his preparation since he was preparing for Naimo

Academically prepared?
It's been rough...wanted to take classes in BC before coming to Cornell...feeling better about his classes now though

Challenged by following Lenny?
Block it all out...tries to go out and play as best as possible

Know the tradition of Cornell goalies?
He did know...really wanted to be a part of it. Really liked the amazing coaching staff. Was looking at a lot of schools...came down to the players and coaching staff.

Really happy with all of the time that he's been getting but feels sorry for Todd. Happy he can make an early impression. He likes the pressure.

Adam: Coach has gotten on your case a few times but you've responded well
McKee: McKee puts more pressure on himself than anyone else and always wants to win.

Adam: First game was an exhibition game...thoughts
McKee: The fans at Lynah are unbelievable...lots of kids are in his classes. Saw games the year before and it is so different between the stands and on the ice. Can't hear yourself think on the ice. He heard the rumors about the fish with Harvard. The Harvard game was his best experience of his life thus far.

Adam: Heros growing up in Texas...
McKee: his father, helped him with confidence and finding places to play. Hockey is booming in Texas now...has gone from 500 players to 8000 players in 7 or 8 years. Dallas Stars take a lot of the credit.

Adam: How did you get into Hockey...
McKee: Got into it because his older friends played. Was forced to go to the Stars second game and got hooked on hockey in 1993.

Adam: What do you need to improve?
McKee: Need to stay physical and aggressive.

Adam: You personally?
McKee: play faster...making trasition to cold weather at Cornell has been difficult

There you have it...sorry it was rough...tried to get it out ASAP...third period is under way

Notre Dame has to press to get back into the game...the Big Red pull down a player as he gets loose in front of the net...Glover is the guilty party...PP for ND
