Uncle Ezra has answered a Lynah Faithful member's question about throwing fish at the Hahvahd game, at [cuinfo.cornell.edu].

What a wimpy answer. No effort to distinguish between tossing the fish before the game and tossing the fish after a goal / at players. They won't (can't? shouldn't?) penalize the Red for an early fish toss, just like they don't penalize the Red for the newspaper toss.

The mixed messages with regards to fish tossing drive me batty. While athletics says they do not encourage the tossing of fish (which, I suppose, is to be expected as an official answer), I distinctly remember an ad in the Sun a few years back- placed by Athletics- in the shape of a fish. Do whatever you can to get them in- just throw 'em.

Ezra answered another question this week about the fish, with something probably a little closer to the balanced approach we'd have liked to see the first time: [cuinfo.cornell.edu]

Don't put anything around URLs. ie, no <>'s

The first time I tried to post a message with a URL and didn't put brackets around it, it came through as non-hot-linked, regular text.

The recent question directed to Uncle Ezra:
"I was just at the Harvard hockey game, and was wondering why we through fish on the ice."
I personally wonder how people who can't spell get into Cornell.

I'm assuming it's the same way people who can't do math get into Cornell.

My sister had a friend that worked in admissions. Apparently, they actually had a red pen with which they would circle all the misspellings in your essays...

Yeah, they definitely mark grammatical mistakes/typos on applications, not only in essays.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't. The quality of your spelling and grammar - especially in a college application - says a lot about how much you care about detail.

I think I've figured out the "tumbling peanut". To the left is a Mac and user (hard to see because the yellow blends in with the background) and on the right is a PC user. The PC crashes and the PC user decides to take it out on the Mac user, and the "peanut" is the cloud of smoke resulting from the brawl. That, or giant legumes are wreaking havic on eLynah.

Havoc (but the legumes are impressive)

That's a Mac? I thought it was an outcropping of iron ore. (Yes, I play too much Civ III.)

See, I could have tried to explain it, but we would have missed out on all this charming banter

Anne, I’ll try to do a better job spell-checking my posts in the future (ever since Word became a fixture in my life, my attention to correct spelling has steadily declined). While we’re making corrections, I should have described it as a cloud of "dust", not "smoke".

How is it the fish poll results keep increasing while the only poll I get to see has to do with a crotchety fart?
