The following factoid was posted on USCHO in a thread about the RPI-PC game which probably many Cornell fans didn't read. I figured that someone here would know if it is true or not. [q]Nathan Marsters (RPI) is the only active ECAC goalie, indeed the only active college goalie, to have won a game at Lynah.[/q] Obviously, unless there are a lot of ties this year, this will soon change, but is it currently true? Marsters did indeed win a game at Lynah his Freshman season 2000-1, and I note that both of Marr's wins last season were in the North Country.

A quick look through the eLynah database shows that only seven goalies have won at Lynah in the last 3 years. Underhill, Burt and LeNeveu won for Cornell. For opponents: Nick Boucher won for Dartmouth in '02, and Ferhi of Sacred Heart ('01), Coakley of St.L ('01) and Marsters. So apparently this factoid is true. A testament to our recent success at Lynah but also a reminder of how much we might miss Lenny.

I remember last year it was said that the only opposing goalies left in the NCAA to hold wins at Lynah were Boucher and Marsters. Obviously, Boucher has graduated (woohoo!), so that's left is Marsters. Now let's have our boys go undefeated at home once again this year so that there will be no non-Cornell goalie left who holds a win at Lynah, thus cementing Lynah Rink as the hardest place in the country for an opposing team to win. :-D

For the love of God, didn't we all agree never to mention that game ever again? :-P

And Marsters's distinction survives another night...
