Seven for me too. (Same seven as Greg.)

But can any of you say you've seen Cornell win the title with three different wives? (This was Kim's first, though she was with me in AC at least once and in Lake Placid at least three times before this year.)

My girlfriend in 1986 was my wife in 1996 and 1997. I was in Albany in 2003 by myself. Wife number two was with me in Albany in 2005 and 2010.

So now that that monkey is off Kim's back I think the next goal is for her to become my wife that has seen Cornell win the MOST Whitelaws.(Better not take another 42 years!)

... mumbles something about you needing to find a new wife if Cornell goes through another title drought ...
TBRW currently running the metrics on Adam Wives to find who was most effective.

Now that's a Pairwise.

I want to know how they'll measure "common opponents." bolt

To give you an idea of how second class this tournament feels, there are no programs at the rink and not even a QR code to scan for one (like there was last year). They just didn't bother creating one. Also, there's a single tiny stand selling souvenirs. None of it has the name of the schools on it - all the souvenirs simply have the tournament logo. In other words, the tournament did the bare minimum of preparing for the fans.

That's terrible. I loved my ECAC tournament tshirts from the 90s/00s with the school Logos in them. One even had the rosters of all five (it was in the days of the PiG) teams.

I think it’s evidence of an extreme reluctance to spend anything on this. The NYC proposals make me laugh. NO CHANCE they would afford the rent on any venue near NYC. I’m sure they take some ORDA funds and try to pocket everything they can. Over/under on concessions windows open in LP: 2.5? Three packs of store brand hot dogs & after that, close.

I think you’re right. I just wish they would understand that maybe there a happy medium between remote LP and expensive NYC. Bridgeport? Sometimes spending money is you know an investment.

IMHO the only places that make sense at this point are Placid and Albany.

Albany at least is a place where most fan bases can make it for the championship game if making a whole weekend out of the tournament isn’t an option. The city doesn’t have any charm but it offers plenty to do while waiting for the games. It’s good enough for the league headquarters. It’s good enough to host NCAA regionals from time to time. My family hasn’t made the trip to Lake Placid but we have have been to Albany multiple times for Saturday only and for ECAC tournament weekend in 2010 followed by NCAA regional. Someday I hope it returns.

You all are old and crazy.

This really should be the official subtitle of this entire forum.

Even if there aren’t any Italians in Burlington, Game Notes provides a PRUH-NUHN-SEE-AY-SHN GUIDE: KUH-stan-yuh.

If you ever want to have a good time, ask South Dakotans to pronounce "DiGiuseppe".

They certainly do lol. I grew up in the Burlington area. In my high school we had some actual italians from italy; the father worked for rossignol and had moved over here on temporary assignment while i ws in HS. Three brothers: Franco, Guido, and Ducho. Franco taught us how to swear in Italian, which was useful, because at the time you could get defaulted from a HS tennis match for cursing, and noone on any other team had a clue wtf we were shouting out. (Our coach had to pretend not to know either...)

However, in one of my favorite evergreen stories, during the last week of school our senior year, they let a few of the international students do part of the morning PA announcements in native language and then English. Franco read his properly but then adlibbed an insult hurled at one of the guys on the tennis team- we'll call him Joe Smith - something like "Joe Smith ... cazzo corte y tota la figa puzza"

Granted my transliteration is probably off, but google it for the gist. Needless to say, the only people laughing in the school were those of us on the tennis team and Franco's siblings. The only one NOT laughing was the Spanish teacher who absolutely knew some Italian and she wasn't happy. They made the kid apologize the next morning on the PA to anyone he might have offended the prior day, which of course made it worse because then there were 1000 students asking wtf the guy had done the day before. Good times!

There was also an italian family down the block from me. The parents had come over before the kids were born, but they gave all the kids like 4 or 5 names that were all incredibly italian sounding. The biggest cheers at graduation always happened when one of their names got read off because they were so freeking long and alliterative. (two of whom were also at Cornell at the same time I was)

Seriously tho, we get the absolute rookies of sports broadcasting on the locals here. And relatively speaking, that guy seems far better than the average for the market.
