Take it for what it's worth -- it's nice to have the most highly thought of class in the conference, I guess.

Another Potulny for Minnesota; another Hemingway for UHN. ECAC still getting no respect. 3 drafted players and they are the #9 class. (My memory isn't failing, right? Weren't Bitz, McCutcheon and O'Byrne all taken?)

This list is completely arbitrary. It has no actual indepth perspective on recruiting classes. Cornell's freshman class is easily in the top five in the country. I've been watching them practice this week and there a great deal of talent in this class. The class of 2007 could very well be better than the class of 2003 with three top line upside forwards, a very well-rounded four defensemen and a #1 goaltender.

Just in from the Dudge Report, US News and World Report has reluctantly admitted that they are behind the freshman hockey roster rankings. The low rankings for Cornell (which parallel a similar slap at Cornell in the US News National University rankings released in their newstand issue last week) are reportedly due to a feud between and unnamed editor at US News and Bill Maher the well known Cornell alum. nut

Easily top 5 in the country? So calgARI, you've seen the other fifty-some-odd recruiting classes play and can be an unbiased judge?
You're right these rankings are arbitrary. I'm sure all of the "ranked" classes are pretty good, so it's nice to see us listed. But only time will tell how good.

Well, I have read detailed scouting reports on virtually every recruit from the perennial top 20 schools in Division I. Based on those reports, I deduced where Cornell stands. There is likely some Cornell bias in there, but certainly not as much as you were insinuating.

Sorry calgARI - I think I came off a bit harsher than I intended...

[Q]Sorry calgARI - I think I came off a bit harsher than I intended...[/Q]Three cheers for your reply Keith. If we could all realize how easy it is to be misunderstood on chat/web pages, we'd have a much more civil discussion.

I didn't think it was harsh at all. Over on the Calgary Flames message board, there is much much more hostile talk than this. I thought it was a fair question.

As you might guess by my lame attempt at a snide reply (above), I too think that the only thing that matters is what the TEAM does on the ice. I think that we all look forward to this season (and its great to be mentioned as having a ranked group of freshmen).
