Put all the spoilers here, please -- I'm sure some people are taping and want to remain in the dark.
Early in the first period, Canada is up 1-0.

Wow, that's a killer... Canada scores with one second left in the second to extend their lead to 3-1.

I don't feel so bad about ECAC officiating any more. Man, that was a joke. Canada clearly deserved that win.

hope that the officiating for the rest of the men's hockey games won't suck that much .... but most of the sucking seemed to be due to overinterpretation of the no checking rule which thankfully dosn't apply to men's hockey.

Actually, Age, if you watched the ECAC women you'd feel even worse. The head ref in that game is/was an ECAC official. Presumably she's the best and/or most experienced that the league has to offer.
I've seen mixed reviews on the officiating, although I wasn't able to see the game (grrrr). I heard it was *very* physical, even for the Olympic teams, so that might have something to do with the number of penalties called.

Heh. I was going to make a joke about the ref obviously being from the ECAC. Not so funny I guess. They did say she was from upstate NY. Oh well. Guess ECAC officiating is ECAC officiating regardless of gender.

I think what people dont realize about officiating is that nobody aspires to be an ECAC official.
The refs who are good just use it as a steppingstone to the minors. I dont know if Alex Dell is still reffing any ECAC games, but he did for a few years, before he started doing AHL games. The good refs also never acquire any seniority in the ECAC, which I guess is why they never get to ref the finals, and you get the reigns of Pierre and the more recent jokes.
