I'm guessing that the university never lost power, though I can't be sure. The rest of Ithaca, however, wasn't so lucky. Parts of downtown went down immediately with the rest of the affected areas, other parts stayed up until around 6PM when they finally crashed. Those latter parts had power restored at approximately 9:14PM (I know, I was sitting outside a restaurant in the Commons when it happened). The former parts, however (including where I currently live), still had power out into the night. My apartment seemed to be cured at approximately 1:45AM.

We got lucky... our area just blinked out for a couple seconds, then dimmed once or twice more... but there are certainly scattered outages around other areas in Ct.

From what I hear, North Campus dorms lost power, but I dunno if it was just isolated areas or the whole campus.

People mock me for living in Virginia, BUT I HAD POWER LAST NIGHT! HAHAHA!

I also got lucky, and I'm allegedly in the middle of it all. No power loss at all here in the sticks, but most of the neighboring towns lost power. An Elmira TV station reported (when they regained power around 8 pm) that only 11,000 local NYSEG customers were originally affected, but NYSEG had to shut down 30,000 more to try to do their part to solve the greater problem.

Broome County (Binghamton) actually had a curfew last night.

Of course, I already did my time last month when a storm knocked out my power for 16 hours.

Power came back on around 4 AM Friday in midtown Manhattan. Had phone service during blackout on Thursday. Had NO phone service Friday morning and still without as of (8:33 PM EST). I am logged on via T1 line in the "lounge" of my apartment building. Cable TV is working with about 1/2 the normal channels.
