Nifty work by the UOIT goalie down 5x3 plus playing with a dman's stick, and actually making a save.
Strange to see us smaller than our opponent (although Canadian schools have no age limit IINM).

All 5 frosh playing. Bauld looks aggressive and interesting. Haven't seen very much of Hoffman yet.

Freschi took Kubiak's place with Angelo and Vanderlaan. I hope Kubiak is not injured.
Murphy looks like an opportunistic pest.
I didn't get a read on Kaldis but he was QBing the second pp unit and got time when we were down 5x3 so I guess Mike likes him.

The team website article.
Starrett's no look pass to Rauter to set up the third goal had Jason creaming his jeans. Also UOIT is a good team (by Canadian university standards) so not a bad start for Cornell who has only been on the ice for, what, 2 weeks?

Kubiak, Wedman, and Bliss didn't dress last night, nor did they for the Red/White game.
I thought Kaldis looked the best of the freshmen. Looked smart, composed, and willing to skate with the puck. Murphy looked like he can be a dangerous player but was pushed off the puck too easily, which isn't a big surprise. Malott looked like he can contribute right from the start. I didn't really notice Hoffman or Bauld that much.
I was hoping Stewart would get the third period but maybe he starts tonight.
My biggest concern is the defensive turnovers, many of which are unforced. New year, same problems?
Way too early prediction...Rauter is most improved player this year.

Equally way too early prediction for most improved: Nuttle. I barely noticed him last year and this year he looks like he's in the center of every play.ithacat

I don't believe Nuttle dressed for too many games last year - Our first exhibition game with 3 returning D-men from last year not dressing gives opportunity for others.
I liked the freshman showing in general in first game. Kudos to the team for moving the puck fairly well 5x5; although we had two many give-aways in our half of ice.
Penalty kill looked good!

I thought Freschi looked particularly dangerous and he had a lot of good scoring chances. Starrett, who never seemed to get going last year after an early season injury, really showed some ability last night, worthy of an NHL 3rd round draft choice.
None of the Freshmen jumped out at meet, but nobody seemed like they didn't belong.
