With Cornell leading 2-0 midway through the 2nd, St. Lawrence scored a soft goal, and dominated the rest of the period, tying it late on the 2-on-0 break.
From Section B it looked like a great wrister to the top corner of the near post.

WICE was in control in the first, they got their forecheck going and kept the puck pretty well. As you said, SLU came back stronger in the second, and right before they tied I was thinking that if we could just get to the intermission with a one-goal lead, we'd be alright. 3rd was pretty even, but they keep coming through in the clutch.

I thought the first goal was soft given the sharp angle, but I couldn't really tell how it got into the net. Perhaps the SLU player deserves more credit than I thought.

If the angle is impossible then how can one fault the goalie? It was one of those throw it at the net moves that sometimes pays off. Wish I could lift the puck like that from any angle.

If Facebook is the only conduit to get to the video, so be it. But if someone knows of a place where it resides outside of Facebook's clutches, I'd be appreciative if they shared.

Huh. I don't have an account, but can view the video just fine. Yes, I'd also prefer videos on more open sites since I'm sure it's a flip of a privacy switch away from the wall of the garden being raised, but in this case, I can watch it just by clicking on the link. Great quality, too.

The video was posted by a page, not a person, so it's public. Generally speaking, the only way the page can make it private is to delete it. If you people want this up on Youtube or something you'll have to talk to the admin, maybe post to the page or comment on the video or something. It's an actual Facebook video, not a pass-through link, otherwise I would've posted that instead.

There appears to be some issue with logged-out viewing on mobile. I can play the video just fine when I'm logged in, but when I'm logged out attempting to play the video redirects me to the login page. Worse, logging in from that point takes me to a blank page, and I have to go back and reload the original video link to get things running. I'm using Safari on an iPhone, but I assume it's behaving similarly on other browser/device combos.

Kyle, were you hitting the login page on play? If you log in and then use the back button to return to the video it should work.

I didn't even click on the link. I was just being snarky about Jason's not having a Facebook account. (Yeah, I'd personally rather all these things were on Youtube myself for the same general reason I'd like to see Cornell pursue Youtube as a video distributor, but even if I had no desire to use Facebook as a social network I'd still have an account with all false information just to get access to stuff like this.)

Wasn't able to watch, but too much reliance on late-game heroics was bound to catch up with them sooner or later. But another fine season to be celebrated.

That was a heck of a ride the last month of the season. This senior class accomplished a lot and will be missed a lot. Don't know if it's too early to look ahead, but next season's roster could look very different depending on how far certain players make it in the Olympic tryouts.

Most gutting game I've seen at Lynah. Not quite the worst possible last game as a student, but very close. They could have won 4-1, Saulnier was flying in the first, and Rougeau nearly made lightning strike twice at the end. I think Slebodnick was the saddest athlete I've ever seen after letting in the last goal. Next year is going to be tough, losing the top D-pair to graduation and probably Gagliardi, Jenner, Saulnier, and Poudrier to the Olympics. Fulton, Leck, Woods, and Brown will have to step up on the offensive side. Really, really disappointing that none of the great teams of the last four years could win a national title. Proud to have watched some of the best Cornell WICErs, though. (Sorry for the rambling, I guess I need a few days to digest the game and the season.)

Why in the the tag line for the Hockey Forum do we still put "and women's" in parentheses? Women's hockey should no longer appear to be an afterthought. How about just Discussions about Cornell hockey?

Why in the the tag line for the Hockey Forum do we still put "and women's" in parentheses?

Obviously because most of us are still primarily (or solely) interested in men's hockey.

Compromise: put "men's and women's" in parens. I.e. Discussions about Cornell (Men's and Women's) Hockey.

That way the women aren't as much of an afterthought and for newbies (or troglodytes whistle) it still makes it clear that the discussion includes both teams, not just the men.

And without the label women's hockey posts would liely end up in "Other Sports" as a result.

The use of the word "still" (not to mention "troglodyte";) rankles though. There are demonstrable differences between the men's and women's game and it's perfectly reasonable for fans to prefer one to the other. It's not a question of prejudice.

Actually it's because there were briefly separate fora and it's just a reminder that both are here now. But if your panties are a-bunching I'll change it.

I wasn't saying it was a question of prejudice for everyone who's not interested in women's hockey. Someone who isn't interested in women's hockey may simply not be interested in women's hockey. No more no less. It's just like someone who isn't really interested in basketball.

But there may still be some people who would think that women's hockey isn't deserving of the respect of those who do enjoy it. Those people are the troglodytes.

Why wank away? Changing the label is a positive step in changing the culture. And I have no real non-alumni-pride interest in women's hockey.

Based on her bio she could probably be third string on the men's team.

Based on Schafer's track record, *I* could be third string goalie on the men's team.

And I can barely skate.
