Very very nasty, I hope he's okay.

[Q]> Exter is the captain of the Warriors
I didn't think goalies could be captains.
[/Q]
A goalie can't be designated as a captain for a game and can't act as a captain (talking with refs, etc.) A team can name a goalie as its captain, but the title is effectively an honorary one.
I hope Exter makes a full recovery, and soon. Hemorrhaging out his ears?? My lord.

Yeah, that is truly awful. I really hope he's ok, and has no permanent damage of any sort. This is the scariest thing to have happen, and no family, team, or anyone should have to do it. You know things are serious when you don't give a damn about how fast someone returns to the ice...just that they return to walking and talking.
Sending good thoughts for Joe Exter....

Exter upgraded to stable condition-

I've heard it a thousand times, but I've never cared to know as much as I do now... what exactly is stable condition vs. the others? anyone medical know details?

I'm probably wrong on this, but I think it's critical, then serious, then guarded, then stable, then fair, then good. I may have missed one or two. Oh, and JR was the Harvard captain his senior year. Ah, those boys, so smart.

Just found this-
[www.intelihealth.com]
In light of this, the news clip of the collision said he was in "serious" condition as of this morning. So I guess we're dealing with "serious but stable"? For those of you who may want to see, [www.necn.com]

The USCHO article says that Eaves will have to serve a 5 game suspension for his third DQ. Shouldn't that be 6 games? 3+2+1=6, isn't that the method for determining length of suspension?

Here's the link to the new article, btw - [uscho.com]
And no, the third DQ = 3 game suspension. But it was Eaves 2nd AND 3rd suspensions at once (intent to injure and fighting). That's 2+3 = 5 games out.

If BC doesn't play 5 more games, do those carry over to next fall? Totally irrelevant and petty to ask - just curious. Let's Go Joe!

i hope this kid recovers well. head trauma is always a bad thing but people have made remarkable recoveries. i also have to assume to eaves did not mean to hurt exter, at least definitely not this bad. i wish exter good health and safety.

Anyone knows how best can we fans send well wishes to Exter? Should I just write to the team's e-mail address?

A friend of mine in med school said that these kinds of injuries can cause a patient to waver from critical to serious several times. The key is that Joe is still unconscious, so it's still a very dangerous situation. Best wishes.
"Reports are that Exter suffered a fractured skull in the collision. He was immediately unconscious and since the incident has not resumed consciousness."

I thought so, but did not want to argue with what was posted on the Merrimack website. One way or another, I am sure our cards and good wishes to reach Joe.
