As much as I enjoyed being at the game (see the far-too-long reflection in the update thread), this was not the team I was expecting to see. Sloppy passes, turnovers, and very little flow in the offensive zone.
But then there was Lenny. Holy crap, that guy is good. I've obviously been reading and hearing about him all year, and the numbers speak for themselves - but the numbers don't speak loudly enough. He slides into position so casually, it is hard to believe that he even sees the player that you see bearing down on him with a clear lane. And then the puck ends up harmlessly in his lap. His vision and positioning are spectacular.
The goal he gave up was the result of a VERY lazy clear attempt. I was sitting at the far end of the ice (and even with glasses I can barely make out numbers from the distance), so I didn't see the person responsible. Some help? The Tiger got the puck above the slot with nobody in position to block the shot. Lenny pushed it aside, but the bad clearing pass left everyone out of position (I think they were already skating into position to counter after Princeton chased the puck and came back up ice) and Lenny didn't look (from a distance, anyway) like he had a chance on the rebound.
On the other hand, if this is what they look like when they are playing badly, this is a very good team. (But we already knew that.)
Other random comments. Bâby is really tall, and is a giant among college players, but he actually looks kinda wiry. Kicked some ass though. TBell was always around the puck in the defensive zone. One thing Princeton couldn't do was operate when Murray was around; players bounce off of him. Finally, even though it was a one goal game through the third period, I never felt at all threatened. Pinceton may have had 9 shots in the third, but they weren't good shots.
