Today's column is up at [www.uscho.com]
He talks about creative cheers done at rinks. It's rather amusing. Especially the one where Yale goalie Alex Westlund talks about the mimicking the goalie chant.

Yes, and please note it's not "Skate skate skate turn skate skate BEND OVER! BEND OVER! BEND OVER! BEND OVER! BEND OVER! BEND OVER!" Morons...

I don't mind the fans shouting out "BEND OVER!". What I do dislike is when they all do it at once. It was more fun in previous years when everyone would chant "Skate, skate, tuuuurn..." etc. together, and then everyone would seem to scream "BEND OVER!" on their own, instead of it just turning into a monotonous "Bend-o-ver...Bend-o-ver...Bend-o-ver". Damn facetimers.

I know that the "remote control sieve" cheer has gone past the point of no return, but it still bugs me.
If it that hard to yell exactly what the goalie is doing as he does it? Say "skate" as he pushes off to skate. Everytime he pushes off say "skate". Don't just chant "skate" until you feel ready to launch into a chorus of "bend over bend over bend over."
When done right it can really get into a goalie's head (See Mike Morrison 11/00). When done the same way every time, it has far less impact.
But alas, gone are the days of, "skate...skate.........skate...tuuuuuurn...skate, skate, STOP, sweeeep, tap, tap..... tap, tap, drink....... tap.... bend over." Now it's more "skate, skate, skate, skate, bend over, bend over, do it!, bend over." It's boring and predictible, but I guess that's the way it is these days.

In order to try to add a little spice to "BEND OVER!", I try to shout out, "SHOW US WHERE YOU WANT IT!" I don't know if anybody ever hears me though.

Well, since we're going to nitpick, it started as "SQUAT" which sounded a lot funnier IMO, and worked better with the other monosyllabic parts.

Hey! I have an idea! Why don't you tell the goalie to DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE at the end to make it really effective?
