Ice Hockey Operations Manager-13460
Description
Cornell's hockey program is nationally ranked, and this position is needed to support these highly-visible and successful intercollegiate teams. This position is responsible for a number of critical aspects of the program. The incumbent will be required to understand the demands of the program, to manage procurement of ice hockey equipment (which includes understanding individual athletes' needs), and building an inventory to meet those needs, securing and cultivating sponsorship by equipment companies, and financial aspects of equipment procurement. This position is responsible for the ongoing safety of equipment and proactively ensuring that safety and functionality are maintained to the highest standards. In addition, this position is the gatekeeper for equipment requests, ensuring that they are reasonable, match the needs of the athletes (approx. 50), and fit within the budget. The incumbent in this position will travel with the men's team to ensure that equipment is safe and functional while on the road. This position will serve as the primary liaison with visiting teams, coordinating services as needed.
This is a fixed on-going 8.5 month appointment (August 16th to April 30th) plus the equivalent of 1 month between May 1st and August 15th annually.
Qualifications

Position requires Athletic Equipment Managers Association Certification or obtain within two years. Must have one of the following in order to qualify for exam:
o
H.S. Degree and 5 years experience as equipment manager
o
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years experience as equipment manager
o
Bachelor's Degree and 1800 hrs. as student-equipment manager

Knowledge of hockey equipment and high-level hockey competition is essential. Experience with college hockey preferred.
*
Experience negotiating with equipment vendors and approving contracts.
*
Experience in developing and managing equipment budgets, inventory control and procurement.
*
Must have experience with computers and programs such as word, and excel.
*
Knowledge of and experience with game filming. Previous experience with XOS/Tech Video Systems preferred.
*
Must be knowledgeable and able to sharpen skates.
*
No relocation assistance is provided for this position.

How about a graduate degree, 15+ years of banking experience, and 5 years of experience as an equipment manager for my 3 kids?
