From that article:

"The tournament's opening game is slated for VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, the home for soccer club FC Schalke 04. Tournament officials are hoping to break a world record with 76,156 the capacity for the opening game."

AAAUUUGGGHHHHH! panic Hockey is not meant to be played in a football or futbol stadium.

I don't know, from a Google translation on the company doing the rink:

The ice technology for the opening match in Europe's most modern stadium AST provides the company from Austria with respect to their employees worldwide to become experts on good ice cream and specialty structures.
Where's an ice cream smiley when you need it?

Here's the original:

Die Eistechnik für das Eröffnungsspiel in Europas modernstem Stadion liefert die Firma AST aus Österreich, deren Mitarbeiter weltweit zu Experten für gutes Eis und Spezialkonstruktionen gelten.

Go for it.

How about:

The ice-making technology for the opening game in Europe's most modern stadium is being provided by the Austrian company AST, whose employees worldwide are considered experts in good ice and specialized construction projects.

Conservation of Kruegers. This is the first tournament in over a decade in which Justin's father Ralph has not coached the Swiss team.

Ugh, does that mean I have to start rooting for Germany now?

I figured you'd help, thanks. But I actually like ice cream better. And no, I'm certainly not going to tell you who to root for.:-D

Holy crap!
You can't stop Thomas Deruns (listed as 6'7" and 167 pounds on Hockeydb.com, somehow I doubt that), Martin Pluss and Ivo Ruthemann, you can only hope to contain them.

6'7" and 167 lbs? I'm pretty sure a strong breeze could stop that.

I think saves 14/18 vs. 31/32 had more to do with it than anything else.
