Underway in Durban. Live ball-by-ball coverage at

[www-usa.cricket.org]

All the CricInfo mirrors seem a little slow at the moment, but midway through their 50-over innings, the Canadians were 105/5. Not stellar, but they may be on their way to setting a sufficiently respectable target for fellow non-Test-playing nation Bangladesh. The number of runs is nice, but I'm a little concerned that they've lost 5 wickets.

As long as LeNeveu isn't tending the wicket this time.

Status of Bangladesh

Oops, my bad. I forgot Bangladesh was elevated to Test status a few years ago. But they are the weakest Test-playing side, and Canada's second-best shot, after Kenya (who really are a non-Test-plaing nation), at getting a win in this tournament.

Also, the headline for the match report was "Canada tied down by Bangladesh in Durban" so I guess I'm out of practice at gauging one-day cricket scores, not having followed any since the last World Cup.

Actually, with a name like Ashish, I'm surprised he's not on the Canadian Snowboarding or Freestyle Skiing Olympic Team. (Thank you, I'll be here all week.)

BTW, the World Cup is actually being televised on Dish Network, but the package is pretty expensive: $300+ for the whole tournament.

Good God. Can this thread just die?

Well, Canada will die soon enough. All out for 180 off 49 overs and one ball. I'm afraid 181 is not an impressive target for the Bangladeshis to chase. Still, I've seen England dismissed for less in a test match. uhoh

You have to be joking, John. At least let ONE person give you positive feedback before you make the thread look like there is some actual discussion. rolleyes

John
Keep Going.
"Some of citizens are behind you all the way, Officer".
Did you see what the Aussies did to Pakistan today?
And, the Proteas dropped the opener against the Windies - That was a shock.

Not to get off the Hockey topic, but the discussion of any sport is better than discussing politics.

Non-Cornell hockey sports topics discussed on eLF are typically either other Cornell sports or other college hockey games. This is neither.

Canada 180 (49.1 ov), Bangladesh 120 (28 ov)

But it does involve Canada. And speaking of Canada, they just won by 60 runs, bowling Bangladesh out for 120 in just 28 overs. Huzzah!

PS--We did discuss curling here during the Olympics. And I think that wasn't even my fault.

And they managed to do it despite a better run rate. That will teach them to bowl slowly!

I've been away from the game too long and don't really get (or agree with) some of the one day rules.
The loss of an over (or more) seems incredibly harsh simply for bowling slowly.
Kind of like a "too many men on the ice" penalty (power play) that lasts a full period.
