We've been controlling the play well and negating UNH's speed on the big ice for the second half of the period.

Schafer calls a timeout with 2:18 left in the first period, to set up the 5x3...this has worked before.

5x3 over...54 seconds of 5x4 left. Good chances on the 5x3 but UNH was quick to block lanes and Foster made some big saves.

That's the best I've seen Cornell play in the offensive zone this year. Maybe we need a "big sheet" in Lynah.

Barry Melrose did a nice analysis of what Cornell needs to do better on PP especially: Riley Nash needs to unleash the shot the minute the puck is on his stick. (One difference from college to the pros is quickness getting a shot off). The announcers started the game describing Cornell's play in terms of what UNH did or didn't do then got around to appreciating Cornell on its own.
Odd reflections off the ice sheet make it look like the ice is worn even at the start of the period. UNH silver (?) jersey tops also look unusual, too. And the acoustics are dead as if nobody's there (it's not full but it's not empty either). Regardless, great to see Cornell on TV with no competiton from the Gianst-Vikings game, that having ended by about the start of the second quarter.
Dryden mentioned once. Still waiting for him to be acknowledged for that 29-0 season the year after he was graduated.

For what it's worth, I've been watching the UNH online stream. Video's been decent resolution and smooth, audio is rough but doable, and the announcers are fine. The cameramen are also very competent

We definitely looked like we were having some trouble covering the ice at the end of that power play. Don't know if that's a function of the ice size or a well-executed UNH offensive.

Barry Melrose just called Cornell the best team he's seen this season. He also made a comment earlier: "Cornell has a lot of Canadians . . . a lot."
As for the game, if we lose it, it will because we dominated the first two periods, but as usual, couldn't finish our chances. It looks like we may be held to 2 goals for the third straight game, and we're not going to win many games scoring just two goals. The good news is we are outskating and outplaying the first place team in Hockey East.

Canadians on the Cornell team, Melrose says. I suppose when you have to bang off a lot of hockey games to make a living, you don't have time to study every team in depth. But Melrose knows the game.dbilmes

I think part of the problem is that Cornell very rarely gets complimented on national television.

Over-rated based on the 4th ranking they showed us with today, but I don't think there has been an update to those since mid-December. Any idea when new ones come out?

As poorly as we played in Florida, we played well today. Even with UNH coming off a long break, they still had the home ice advantage and the Olympic size rink, and a hot goaltender. The oft-criticized B. Nash played a solid game, and this was the best cycling in the offensive zone I've seen us have all year, especially that one shift with Scali's line in the third period. This was the Cornell team we've all been waiting to see. Let's hope we can keep it up.

Somewhere between 10-15 would seem reasonable. 0-3 against the top-9; 0-0 against 10-15; 1-0-1 against 16-20; 1-0 against other teams receiving votes.
Great to see the guys get a big win.
