Cornell 2 - 3 Quinnipiac; Final

As has been noted by others, tonight's match versus the Fighting Deerticks Bobcats of Quinnipiac is our second real challenge of the season (Yale being the first). As we know, Quinnipiac has some dangerous and dynamic forwards, much like Yale. Seniors Brandon Wong, Eric Lampe, and Mike "Goldilocks" Atkinson have been solid competition for Cornell for a few years now--we all remember what happened in '07. Sophomore Dan Clarke looks to be their starter in net tonight, and looks very solid statistically, despite being on a 2-goalie rotation with Eric Hartzell, who minded net at Colgate last night. Last year's series had a rare nil-nil tie in Hamden, and a 2-1 overtime win in Ithaca for the Red thanks to Evan Barlow. Hopefully, coming off a PP goal last night, Riley Nash will spur the K-N-J line to be more productive. I believe the Red will have to play a physical game and avoid odd-man rushes to get past Q this evening. And I'll be damned if we have more problems with the video feed.

Seems like the game threads have been more tech support than game this weekend.

Davies scored on the powerplay for Q. Apparently there was someone on top of Scrivens when the puck went in, but the play was not reviewed.

Birch had the rebound on his stick but couldn't control it. Then right to the Q guy for the goal.

We take our fourth consecutive penalty...5 min major and game misconduct on Greening for boarding. Colin heads off to the locker room for the first time in his career.

It's working fine for me. I loaded the page at about 6:30pm and haven't closed it since.

I can't get into redcast by direct link and I can't get onto athletics website at all. Is there a QPAC audio link??

Greening with a 5min major and Game Misconduct

More than half of the first period played a man down. Pretty stupid in the most important game of the year so far.

I was...until I accidentally hit the 'refresh' button.

Problem for me between 6:30 and 6:50 was getting cornellbigred.com to load. Can't sign in if the page doesn't load.

It was an obvious penalty, but whether it deserved a 5+game misconduct is questionable.

Cornell announcers didn't seem to "question" it.

Patrick Kennedy draws a penalty and most of the remainder of Q's 5-min pp will be spent 4x4, with 18 secs of Q pp at the end.

I think most replay screens show the time and the goal line, but I haven't seen the screen at Lynah.

I live and breath cornell hockey and always look forward to the winter, but being one of the supposed "premiere" programs in the country, losing to the yales and Qs of the world just won't cut it. Especially when it comes to all our expectations coming into THIS year. I know its early and there's a long way to go, but games like this aren't going to get it done vs BU, NH or ND. I still have faith, just frustrating as hell sometimes. Hopefully this becomes a wake up call and shows we can't just go thru the motions and that our high ranking don't automatically equate to wins.

Well, it's encouraging that we made a game of it late without the services of Colin Greening. A tough loss for sure. Quinnipiac matched up well against us and got the breaks this time around.

right... forgot about them (already focused on my trip to New York). bring on Colgate.

I hope Greening comes back (the right kind of) pissed off...
