3 of the next 4 against ranked teams... 4 of the next 6, possibly 5 of the next 7, or 6 of the next 9, or 7 of the next 10...or...yeah, it's a mad schedule. I need some coffee. panic

I wonder if more college hockey fans are questioning that or Cornell's #3 ranking. Niagara, Dartmouth and Harvard - we haven't played anyone that tough yet (though at least we've won). I would rank several other teams ahead of Cornell at this point based on early season results. It's early and there's a lot of parity so far. Michigan is 4-4 and they always have the best recruiting class in the country!:-P

Cornell men #3 and the woman are #7. When was the last time both the men's and woman's teams were ranked at the same time ?

But prior to this season, maybe 1997/98. I don't believe the women have been ranked since then, if they were even ranked at that point, and the men weren't exactly tearing it up on the national scene that year.

It's possible the women were ranked at some point last season, but it seems unlikely.

For unknown reasons USCHO has Pairwise Rankings up already as well as Bracketology by Jayson Moy. It's only worth noting because Cornell is currently 8 in the PWR which lands them in - wait for it - St. Paul. On the plus side, host Minnesota is not currently in the field.

At this point isn't PWR essentially RPI?

It just proves that there is a conspiracy to screw Cornell by sending us out west. We're the only undefeated and untied team left in the coutry and we get sent to St. Paul? That's outrageous!

We have played far fewer games that the non-Ivy teams and thus the PWR (although worthless right now) ranking will suffer because of it.

Perhaps it's the editors' way of indicating gently the stupidity of whoever keeps voting for BU in the poll.

Number of games played is irrelevant to the PWR. At this stage, because record vs TUC won't contain enough results to qualify, every pairwise comparison will come down to RPI or maybe head-to-head. USCHO's RPI is apparently not throwing out "bad wins", which I believe the NCAA is still doing; if you do that for us (as for any team with a perfect record) only our toughest opponent (in this case Harvard) counts, and we are #3, not #8:

RPI with "bad wins" removed
RPI without "bad wins" removed

Also, seeding tournament brackets in November is idiotic.

There's a certain elegance and beauty to watching the field coalesce into a single"logical" entity. I feel like I'm watching the early seconds after the Big Bang. Each bubble that combines with the larger one is like watching the formation of the first proton or the first hydrogen atom.
