Migrated to a new server last night and the DNS propagation for the forum took hours longer than all the others for some reason. On the plus side, the server is much, much faster, and located in D.C. instead of Dallas so performance should be a lot better under heavy load. Enjoy!

What difference does DC vs. Dallas make? Are you just thinking that DC is closer geographically to a larger number of visitors? (I suppose thacould matter in the aggregate.) Or is there something else?

Mostly that. I'm sure it's negligible but it'll at least be a few less hops for people in the northeast, where most of the traffic originates. Also, I don't trust Texans.

You take that back! You take that back, sir, for Dave McKee's Locke Jillson's sake.

The extra milliseconds between a server in Dallas and one in the DC area do add up, especially when there's heavy traffic on the server or to the server farm. Since most of the load here comes from the northeast, it makes sense to have the server closer to the bulk of the users. That's one of the reasons that the big-guys have multiple servers located across the globe to maintain consistent speeds. Trickier to manage, but a smoother and more consistent result.

I thought that if you're charged, it means you're guilty, right?
(At least that's what LaJollaRed tells me to say to the judge to get out of jury duty...)
(If he reads this, he'll actually freak out for a microsecond about getting disbarred for this forum post on eLynah. Don't lie, I know you did.)
