Princeton's higher than Michigan State and North Dakota. Right.
At least, if we can hang a loss or two on 'em (transparent pandering to woofing gods) our RPI should get a boost.

How in the world can the D-III's have played so many games?

I think it's an error...if you look at the individual team pages on USCHO, most of the teams with the high GP #s in that poll actually haven't played a game yet. Perhaps they accidentally transposed their records from last season?

Oops. That should have been a question mark.
Cornell was top 5 in the ECAC, and in the late 90s D-I women's hockey was basically the ECAC and Minnesota. Cornell finished as one of the top 10 teams that season, but it's possible that the USCHO poll rankings didn't actually exist back then.
It's also possible that Cornell would have received votes early on in 1998-99.
