Mike Iggulden was signed by the Islanders:

---
...added Mike Iggulden, a forward who has scored 81 goals in his three AHL seasons. Iggulden, 25, had been in the San Jose organization. He scored 30 goals two years ago for Worcester, then scored 29 more last season. He also made his NHL debut at Nassau Coliseum against the Islanders. "He has tremendous upside. We see him as a potential Islander," Sound Tigers president Howard Saffan said. "He's a big winger (6-foot-3, 215 pounds). He was our No. 1 targeted free agent on the forward end."
The Cornell product scored six of his 66 points last season against the Sound Tigers. "Mike's a player who, every time we played them, was an offensive threat," coach Jack Capuano said. "He's got good size and skill. He competes hard."

You didn't mention the Islander's other acquisition of the day.
http:www.connpost.com
Another Ivy Leaguer likely slides into the Bridgeport net. [Yann] Danis, 27, played the past four-plus seasons in the Montreal Canadiens organization, mostly with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. "He has shown himself to be a high-end goaltender, and we expect the same," Saffan said. "We expect him to show himself to be a No. 1 in the AHL and get himself to the NHL."

The Sharks have been active: Blueline Rebuilt In Days. Does anyone see a threat to Murray's status?

Nope. They still only really have six solid NHL defenseman now that they traded Rivet away. They were really happy with Douglas's work last season and I'm sure he'll be logging just as many minutes this season.

Not so bad if he actually gets more than a cup of coffee at the NHL level? I don't like the Islanders either but they could use some two way forwards. Plus, if he becomes successful at the NHL level, he'll leave!

I'm too lazy to find a link, but LeNeveu signed with Anaheim. Hopefully it works out better for him than it has for McKee.

Ah well. There goes one of the biggest reasons for me to go to see the Wolf*Pack. With the AHL affiliation merry-go-round, he won't even land in Portland. Hopefully this opens a path for him to get some more time in the NHL.

I think Anaheim is pretty set with Giguere and Hiller as their tandem in the NHL. I think Burke is very high on Hiller and thinks he is the future once Giguere is done. Not that Leneveu would have done any better being behind Lundqvist and Valiquette in New York.

The key to LeNeveu getting a break in the NHL is playing better. From a lackluster performance for the Canadian U-21 team on, his numbers have been subpar for a guy who wants a career in the NHL. I am rooting for him to succeed but until he gives the people in front of him a reason to look over their shoulders, it doesn't matter who those people are.

Ryan O'Byrne re-signs with the Canadiens. It's a 3 year deal. No terms yet. Could it be a one way deal? I don't think he would have signed a 3 year two way deal where he could be buried in the organization for pennies.

It's 3 years, 2.825 million, 700, 725, 1.4 for each year.

Here's a link: [www.rds.ca]

WARNING: The link is in French.

It doesn't specifically say it's a one-way contract but based on the terms I'm pretty sure it is one-way.

In other news, Matt Moulson signed a one year contract with the Kings at 3:41 PM today according to TSN's free agent tracker. I'm assuming that's two-way, but none of the articles say anymore than he signed a one-year deal.

If you look at the comments to the O'Byrne article, Sampson 1 has an interest explanation. It's mere conjecture but he thinks that O'Byrne was trying to help a fellow teammate - the women supposedly had compromising photos of him. Not that you should steal her purse, but I like the thought of him sticking up for a teammate versus a stupid random prank.

I never thought of him as a real criminal, it's not like he's from Dartmouth.

For anyone who gets "The Hockey News", there's a column by Ken Campbell showing how Doug Murry can be making $3 million a year by this time next year. I can't find out how to get it online, unless you're a subscriber, but basically it discusses free agency.
